Description:

“From the mud and rain, she returns.”

Preamble

You may know me as KBite. In my seven years as a – rather passive – member of the DD community, I have witnessed many things. The most recent one being the Miscreant mod getting dropped by everyone involved in her creation. Considering a redesign is in the works, my thoughts went to the fans of the original who might be alienated by the stark difference between the two versions.
For their sake, I decided to take matters in my own hands and continue support for the mod’s original design. Rather than making a simple reupload, I intend to gradually extend compatibility with other mods where sensible, as well as make small adjustments to minor “flavor” elements.
Rest assured, the original feel and vision of the mod will remain as is. Consider this my way of showing goodwill to the original people involved.

Now, on to what you’re actually here for.

Hero Synopsis

“Away from it all, in the rain and mud, I am free.”

Having lived all her years in a gilded cage, the Miscreant is now on the run from an arranged future in search of a freer life. For a time, she’ll offer her aid to our Hamlet in exchange for shelter on her voyage.

Tactical Analysis

The Miscreant is a highly versatile hero, being able to play as both a support and a damage dealer. With Royal Command, she has a tight grip on her team’s positioning and action order, allowing her to utilize strategies previously unthinkable – a boon that her other skills very much enjoy, either for returning to position quicker or to maximize damage potential.
Said skills all have distinct roles, each fitting a specific team or being the answer to a select situation:

Salad Knife is a dancer’s option for enemy cleanup, offering solid stats and perfect rank coverage at the cost of shuffling the Miscreant with each use. A mobile team will gladly use this skill to pick off half-dead enemies before they become an annoyance or to strike where others struggle to reach;
Two Can Play is deceptively similar to Salad Knife, having the same rank coverage. However, its unique rank gimmick making it much more forgiving to use, coupled with higher crit rate and Riposte denial as a nice bonus, makes for a skill that has virtually no team incompatibility: it is an offensive Miscreant’s bread and butter;
Go For The Jugular! requires the most setup for optimal functioning, asking both positioning and marks. In exchange, you can cause hefty bleeds to the front enemies and send them to the backline where they are almost sure to die before they return in formation. As Mark teams often come with some bleeds, you can expect this skill to see some action there;
Ace In The Hole is designed to be…well…an ace in the hole. By using the full firepower concealed under her poofy dress, the Miscreant can use this skill to shred through an enemy’s Protection, dishing out lethal damage at the cost of knocking her down in next turn’s act order to reload her arms. If you expect to be met with resilient foes such as the Cove’s seaborn devils, by all means consider this skill, so long as you can make it count.
Parley provides a sizeable damage debuff to all participants. This seemingly detrimental effect can be cleverly used to protect your team from an incoming smackdown, facilitate recovery when a fight is winding down, or simply shut down the enemy’s force while you sit back and let your DoTs do the job for you.
Mirth & Glee is a stress heal for Miscreant and another hero. Nothing more, nothing less. It is a noticeable and consistent stress heal, which makes it quite valuable. Anything that can prevent a resolve check is innately a good option, after all.

The team support continues with her camping skills, offering both stress relief for herself and a companion, and the ever-needed ambush prevention – each costing little in time but forcing you to pay with some rather nasty debuffs to speed and accuracy. Alternatively, you may boost the Miscreant’s firepower or guarantee an ambush in your favor for the next battle, with a boost to accuracy – just enough to offset the debuff from the stress heal! – and damage to humans as a bonus.

To summarize, the Miscreant is a talented princess who can play many roles, being either the team’s lifeline or a golden bullet designed to elegantly remove an enemy from the battle; regardless of the music playing, though, she is certain to be the one conducting the dance.
