Technocracy Rebalanced: Cheaper Decrees
————————————————————————————————-
• Removed: +1 Max Company
• Added: -25% Decree cost
• Added: +1 Max Company
————————————————————————————————-
This is a variant of my Technocracy Rebalanced mod. Instead of boosting the throughput of Universities and Government Administration buildings, it reduces the cost of decrees by 25%
————————————————————————————————-
In the current patch, Technocracy gets a free company, making it by far the best distribution of power law and giving you no reason to pick any other law. It also locks you in to Technocracy as you would lose the company slot. Every game you switch on to Technocracy as soon as you can and never switch off, which gets stale.
However, prior to the buff, there was no reason to go onto Technocracy except for roleplay, as it was essentially a slightly different Oligarchy that is only endorsed by two ideologies. Technocracy needs some bonus to give you a reason why you would pick it over voting laws, even if it still isn’t meta.
This mod removes the +1 max company slot from Technocracy. Instead, it makes decrees cost -25% less authority to enact, to represent the unelected technocrats being able to enact their initiatives and policies efficiently. This is a modest bonus that is meant to be useful so you have a good reason to use Technocracy but not so powerful you are unable to switch off of it later. Technocracy still keeps the free company charter as this is not too overpowered as a bonus.
Since having company slots are fun, the company slot you recieved from Technocracy has been moved to the Era V Society tech Modern Financial Instruments. This will let you get the same max companies as vanilla, without requiring certain laws.

This mod is not compatible with my other Technocracy Rebalanced mods.
This mod updates the Technocracy law and the Modern Financial Instruments tech, if they exist. Any mod that updates either those two things will require a compatibility patch. Otherwise, any other mod should be compatible.
