Description:
Operation Atlantic Sentinel : Mission 2: Night Hunt

•2nd Mission in a modern NATO vs Russian naval conflict.

•Set northeast of Iceland, NATO forces continue patrol operations following the destruction of Russian Surface Action Group Sever. Intelligence now suggests a possible Russian submarine operating within NATO-controlled waters.

•While on patrol, your task group is directed to investigate a reported subsurface contact. A datum will be provided, and further intelligence will develop as the situation unfolds.

•Proceed with caution. The contact is unconfirmed, but increasingly likely.

Situation

You are in command of Task Group 21.2, consisting of:

•USS Gettysburg (CG-54)

•USS Simpson (FFG-56)

•USS Cook (FF-1083)

An overhead maritime patrol aircraft is actively monitoring the area and will provide updates as more information becomes available.

The operating environment is complex:

•Night operations

•Civilian maritime traffic

•Biological interference

•False contacts are expected.

Mission

•Proceed to the assigned datum

•Conduct ASW operations

•Detect and classify subsurface contacts

•Confirm or deny hostile presence

•Engage and destroy if necessary
