Monon ES44AC
"Oh! Up and down the Monon
Everything is fine,
‘Cause that rootin’, tootin’ Monon
She’s a Hoosier line,"
The Monon was a very small but beloved Class 1 railroad with lines from Chicago to Indianapolis and from Michigan City to Louisville, Kentucky. The railroad was notable because of it’s service to the local colleges and Universities who made up a good chunk of the railroad’s passenger traffic. To show their support to these important customers the Monon painted their diesel locomotives in schemes that matched the schools they served
The Black and Gold freight Scheme matched the colours of Purdue and DePauw Universities and the red and white passenger scheme matched the Indiana University and Wabash College.
And here’s two GEVO’s in those schemes!
"But Mr spiff man! how does the Monon Survive until 2011 when these units release!?!"
We’re still figuring this out. don’t worry about it
