TABU – Theban and Boiotian Units for WOS
Hello hi!
This pack adds 10 custom units for Boiotian League. I find WOS a very interesting campaign and therefor wanted to spread some love on at least one of the factions. I choose Boiotian league for their starting position(geographically and politically, the opportunity to bring the Sacred Band of Thebes to life, and for our shared taste for wine. They also seemed like a faction few would consider expanding, unlike Sparta and Athens, that already had lots of great mods. It includes loads of new armors, helmets, crests and shields.
The units included in this pack is:
Young Thebans – Fresh recruits that yet lack the experience needed for the regular ranks. Available from start.
Boiotian Light Infantry – Cheap and weak club infantry. Available on civic settlements.
Theban Hoplites – Hoplites from the grand city of Thebai and its surroundings. Military 3 and up, requires phalanx drill tech.
Boiotian Archers – Late unit. When Boiotia grows and creates a form of regular army. Military 4 and up, requires cretan ethos tech.
Boiotian Sword Infantry – Late unit. When Boiotia grows and creates a form of regular army. Military 4 and up, requires hierarchy tech.
Boiotian Phalangitae – Even later unit. Inspired by the successful pikes of Philip II of Macedon. Military 4 and up along with epitaph tech.
Theban Sacred Band – The legendary regiment that was thought to be invincible until their demise at the Battle of Chaeronea in 338 BC. Can be chosen as the generals bodyguard or recruitable late in game, with an unforgiving cap of 1.
Cult of Dionysos – Boiotia was the region in ancient Greece that held one of the strongest bonds with Dionysos, the god of wine. While not being the most historically correct unit in the pack, I thought Dionysos had to have some sort of mention. A strong peltast unit that becomes available through the later "wine" buildings.
Theban Elite Hippeus – Elite shock cavalry. Can be chosen as generals bodyguard or recruitable in military 4 and up. Demands thessalian cavalry tactics tech.
Theban Late Hoplites – Stronger, more disciplined version of Theban Hoplites. Marks the end of the Boiotian era and this pack. Available on military 5 and needs epitaph tech.
Big thanks to Avetis of C.I.U who lend me his amazing "simple boeotian helmet", that are found on many units, the theban late hoplites in particular in its silvery transformed version.
Also to the guys who gave me the new greek thracian helmet that I painted and stuck to the standard bearers, will give you proper credits once I find you again.
