Alien Imprints – Configurable Artifact Spawns

Gain full control over how many Alien Artifacts anomalies are created when the Alien Imprints breakthrough is researched.

In the vanilla game, Alien Imprints spawns a random number of anomalies between 3 and 10. This mod allows you to define your own minimum and maximum values, letting you tailor the discovery to your preferred balance, pacing, or playstyle.

Whether you want Alien Imprints to always feel like a major breakthrough moment, or you simply want more predictable outcomes, this mod gives you precise control via Mod Options.

Features
  • Configure the minimum number of Alien Artifacts spawned (default: 3)
  • Configure the maximum number of Alien Artifacts spawned (default: 10)
  • Supported range: 1 to 20
  • Automatically corrects invalid settings (for example if Maximum < Minimum)
  • Only affects Alien Imprints when the breakthrough is researched

Why use this mod?

Alien Imprints is one of the most satisfying breakthroughs in Surviving Mars, but its random range can sometimes feel underwhelming or inconsistent. This mod lets you fine-tune that moment so it better matches your colony’s progression, challenge level, or personal preferences — without changing any other game balance.

Known Issues
  • Surviving Mars sometimes does not fully refresh Mod Options after enabling or disabling other mods. If the options for this mod are missing, a restart will make them appear again. (Engine/UI limitation.)

Change Notes
  • Improved: Added clear tooltips to Mod Options for better usability.
  • Technical: Added a runtime safeguard for missing SortKey values on Mod Options (prevents preset sorting errors).
  • Updated: Workshop thumbnail / preview images refreshed for clarity and consistency.
