Lionel’s tinplate track began with the introduction of 3-rail Standard Gauge system in 1906, followed by O gauge in 1915. Renowned for durability, these systems allowed easy reverse loops, dominating with 3-rail tubular designs, including later realistic alternatives like "T-rail" (1930s) and Super-O (1957–1966).
