Description:

Mother is a unique stationary incubator enemy designed to increase the difficulty of your survival in the Horde gamemode. She will not chase you and has no direct attacks. Her main threat is what she brings into the world.

Leave her unattended, and she will flood the map with mutants before poisoning everyone nearby.

Key Features & Mechanics
  • Class Name: npc_vj_horde_mother
  • Living Spawner: The Mother is completely stationary and has 800 health. Every 5 seconds, she spawns a random enemy around her.
  • Wave Adaptation: The type of summoned monsters dynamically scales with your current Horde wave. Starting from wave 6, she is capable of spawning elite enemies.
  • Flesh Texture: All minions spawned by the Mother are covered in a special flesh material, making it easy to distinguish them from the regular horde.
  • Toxic Self-Destruction: The Mother is programmed to spawn exactly 15 minions. Once this limit is reached, she self-destructs, releasing a thick cloud of red smoke that lasts for 7 seconds.
  • Mass Bleeding: Upon her self-destruction, all players within a 350-unit radius instantly receive the Bleeding debuff. You have exactly 40 seconds to kill her before she completes her cycle.
  • Smart Collision: Players can walk through her model, preventing anyone from getting stuck in tight corridors, but bullets, explosives, and melee damage register perfectly.

Configuration Recommendations

It is highly recommended to set the spawn limit for the Mother to 1 to 3 in your Horde configuration file.
Because she acts as a spawner, she will rapidly increase the total enemy count on the map. Most importantly, players receive very little money from killing the zombies spawned by the Mother. Spawning too many Mothers at once can easily overwhelm the server and frustrate players with unrewarding enemies.
