Family Relations: Adoption
Want a more accurate relation designator for the non-bio-parent of your same-sex couple that just had a surrogate baby? Want to officially welcome the orphan child you saved from being chased by 72 waster pirates into your colonists’ family?
Well, here you go!
After too long of feeling being for the parent-less eight-year-old orphans living in their own apartments in my colonies, I decided to make this mod.
There are adoptive equivalents for all familial relations except for kin. Adoptive relationships are effectively treated the same as biological relationships, just with different names. Pawns will get sad about their adoptive family members dying or being lost just like their biological family members, and will hold grudges if someone kills their adoptive family member.
While controlling an adult pawn, right-click on a child pawn to see the adopt option.
Only adult pawns (over 18 years old) can adopt. Only child pawns (under 18 years old) who are members of the colony can be adopted.
A pawn can’t adopt a child who is already their biological child, but besides that, a pawn can adopt a child who is blood-related to them.
Nope!
Yes, you can add it! Probably yes, you can remove it.
Nothing game-breaking that I have found, but any mod dealing with social relations probably is not going to know what to do with adoptive relations.
Not right now. I plan on looking into this though.
