Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant
After over 2 years of work and thousands of hours. To remember the disaster on its 40th anniversary:
The Chernobyl disaster has always held a mythic status in culture, as a site of death, fear, and heroism. This is what draws us towards it, as a place so unnatural, so hostile, and yet so inherently human. That is our goal, to convey that human aspect of the site, what it would have been like to walk the nearly kilometer long turbine hall, or the 8 story reactor hall, and most importantly, to convey what happened that night on April 26th, 1986. To acknowledge the loss experienced by thousands, the thousands of men and women who would suffer as a result of the disaster, and the thousands more who would be permanently removed from their homes, forced to leave their lives behind, not knowing if they would ever return. Chernobyl is a historic site, a constant reminder of the mistakes we have made, a reminder to appreciate our very short lives, and most of all, a reminder of the cost of life. This is Chernobyl’s legacy.
We have done our best to tell Chernobyl’s story, and the story of some of those involved.
There are 7 versions of the map so that everyone can experience Chernobyl one way or another:
Containing a full shadow box, and extremely detailed interiors, very performance heavy [Recommended 12GB of VRAM to run smoothly, 5070Ti graphics or equivalent]
Still heavily detailed, and performance heavy [Recommended minimum of 8GB of VRAM, 5060 graphics or similar]
Full units 3 & 4, including ventilation block, with turbine hall removed [8GB VRAM recommended]
Full map, excluding Unit 3 reactor block [Still 8GB VRAM recommended]
Reactor block 4 excluding the ventilation block and unit 3 [4GB-8GB VRAM required]
Only reactor block 4, heavily optimized so that lower end systems should be able to run it [4GB VRAM or more]
This version is accessible here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3714220577&searchtext= and requires minimum 8GB VRAM to run
