Anathema (Vitiated Characters) [RGON+]
(This mod is a complete overhaul of the (now unlisted) orignal "Anathema Mod", also known as "Vitiated Characters". Most aspects of this mod were touched up, reworked, or ditched entirely in favour of a greater, and higher quality experience.)
Because of the team being made out of only 4 people, the mod will contain bugs, and some parts might be unbalanced, we will try to push out fixes to balance it out and remove the bugs! This also means that we currently don’t support local coop.
Anathema includes a brand new variant of the origial cast of characters: Vitiated Characters, which all come with their own sets of abilities, unlocks and more.
This mod currently contains:
- 6 New Characters
- 44 Unlocks, which means 7 unlocks per character. Each one can unlock 3 items, 1 trinket, 2 consumables and 1 meta unlock,
- 2 Challenges, behind which lie the 2 other unlocks.
And with even more characters and unlocks in the future!
You don’t want to unlock everything by hand, and just wanna enjoy all this mod can offer from the get-go? In the conssole, type in `UNLOCK_ALL_VITIATED` to unlock everything right off the bat. And you can type in `VHELP` for any further help with unlocks.
Isaac’s dice has shattered but pieces of it will now rain from the sky, letting you reroll more than ever, but such great power does not come without downsides. Sin haunts this child, and giving yourself to Greed, Envy or Sloth will make you start losing items, although with a help of Dice Shards and some self sacrifice you might craft a way to retrieve them…
The punishement for his crimes results in only ever finding items of worse quality, but Cain wields the Upgrading Bag, which he can use to collect pick ups to later use to raise items’ quality. Additionally, his pearly new eye let’s him see into enemies’ guts and rip out pickups straight from them, making the process of filling the bag much easier.
Now with a gun mechanism embeded into his head, his brimstone is much more powerful but costs ammo to use, making him need to reload himself. Reloading might seem as a downside, but with enough experience it can be a boon. When reloading you can hit a skill check which will give you more ammo, increase your damage, and apply brimstone curse to nearby enemies!
Her womb is filled with demon fetuses which want to wreck havoc upon everything. Her basic attack is now replaced with built in c-section, but the amount of fetuses you can shoot out is limited. After some time of attacking the fetuses will settle into one place and will now work as stationary turrets. Luckly, if they decide to settle in a position that you don’t like, you can recall all your fetuses by using your pocket active "Family Bond", and if you ever feel like you don’t have enough ammo you can use also use it to sacrifice items to increase your max fetus count!
Apollyon now expands upon his true purpose, he will bring the end of days. His pocket active is an Angelic Trumpet which lets him consume items and turn them into various buffs or stat ups! The buffs stack, so choosing going for more copies might be more beneficial than choosing different ones each time! Every buff brings Apollyon closer to his true form… But if you try to abandon your purpose, it will chase after you. If you don’t play the Angelic Trumpet the items you find will start turning into buffs on their own, but this time you won’t have a choice and will be forced to take what fate decided to give you.
Her religion is the most important, and she will try to convert enemies to the only true faith… Her pocket active, Denzinger, let’s her summon special wisps that cannot be killed while orbiting you, but after double tapping the fire button you will be able to shoot them out and they will stick to an enemy and will start slowly indoctrinating it. After a successful indoctrination the enemy will turn into a special Follower Wisp that will now orbit you closely and shoot alongside you. After fully offering herself to Dogma, Beth’s spiritual form may have grown strong but her body has grown weak. She starts with 3 empty bone hearts and that’s all she has, all health is now replaced with static hearts which will work as additional charges for your active items. The true health is your following! Each follower wisp works as one use holy mantle, so try to keep as many as you can! Although if you feel a need, you may also exchange your followers for more static hearts at the TV that spawns in the starting room.
