Combat Droids
Oh boy. Those crazy humans at it again!
After researching the Andron Autopsy, the xenonaut’s chief science bro discovered that with just a little JSON programming (luls), hot glue and some extra alien doodads, they were able to rebuild damaged Androns to serve humanity in the fight against the aliens.
[The main features]
Four tiers of Combat Droids (Mk1 – Mk4). (based on Andron soldier, warrior, elite and praetorian base stats).
Fully player deployable and controllable units (via robot crate equipment item).
Combat droids come unarmed, but can pickup and use any equipment (human or alien) in the field.
Research is available after finishing the Andron Autopsy (just need one andron corpse).
Engineering requires ALOT of cash, alloys, alenium, alien eletronics and 1 andron corpse, obviously.
[Powercore]
Droids come deployed with a "powercore" , keeping this intact allows the droid to be repacked and reused. However it can be thrown as a suicide bomb as a last resort (and making the droid unrecoverable in the process).
[What can it do?]
Its a fully functional player soldier unit. You can use it to tank UFO breaches, be a heal-bot or even suicide bomber. You can also bring extra equipment (on another soldier) and drop that gear to the ground and have the droid gear-up, or just pick up fallen alien weaponry in the field.
[End of combat]
At the end of a mission, if the unit’s powercore is still intact, the droid will be repacked into a crate and recovered for use in another mission.
[Limitations]
Other than the droid crate being 50lbs and very bulky (3×3 inventory slots), each solider can only carry one of these into combat. This is effectively allows the player to double their troop deployment with combat droids.
Balance – the unit is based on existing andron stats, but with so many troops, the player will have an easier time using these.
