Tenacious Technology
A mod for Farthest Frontier that substantially reworks how knowledge points are acquired. In vanilla, progress towards new KP comes from a small flat rate the player has no control over, and massive amounts from scholars working in the academy (further boosted by paper). This mod changes that by
- Giving passive knowledge generation from having an educated population. The larger the percentage of your village has a basic education, the faster you will get new technology.
- The amount of children taught each year by the school has been drastically reduced (to ~15), so multiple schools and/or a slow population growth are needed to maximise technology progression.
- Scholars produce less knowledge without paper, and use paper far more quickly when it’s available.
- Requirements for the Academy, and especially Grand Academy, have been increased to require several sophisticated buildings.
- More techs boost the passive knowledge point generation (which includes education), but each by a smaller amount.
- Techs that boosted scholars now instead increase the maximum number of scholars available.
- A few early game buildings no longer provide free knowledge points.
The combined effect is to make it harder to beeline a maximum knowledge generation rate. Instead, focusing on technology requires a holistic approach and increases at a steadier rate through out the game. The general rate at which new knowledge is acquired is broadly the same as in vanilla, but could be faster or slower depending on play style.
