Real Engine Enhanced
Better perception. Cleaner combat feel. Safer Real Engine gameplay.
Real Engine Enhanced rebuilds and expands the original Real Engine concept with improved camouflage, vehicle damage, weapon feedback, terrain concealment, UI readability, and battlefield feedback while reducing conflicts and improving stability.
Requires: CBA_A3
Real Engine Enhanced focuses on one thing: making Arma 3 feel more believable, readable, and responsive without turning it into a fragile overhaul.
It keeps the best gameplay ideas from the original Real Engine mod, rebuilds them into a cleaner modular structure, removes problem features, and improves stability for modern Arma 3 setups.
For the best battlefield experience, this mod is recommended alongside AI behaviour mods such as LAMBS, DCO, VCOM, or similar AI enhancement mods.
- AI detection feels more affected by camouflage, stance, movement, terrain, clothing, and weapon fire
- Suppressed fire creates less exposure than loud unsuppressed fire
- Standing, sprinting, close movement, and recent firing make units easier to detect
- Heavy anti-tank weapons cause more meaningful vehicle subsystem damage
- Rockets and missiles have stronger fly-by feedback
- Grenades, smoke grenades, and 40mm smoke rounds bounce less unrealistically
- Flares are brighter and more useful during night operations
- Flashlights are improved without forcing unrealistic daylight-style beams
- Grass and terrain surfaces provide better concealment values
- Map and compass readability are improved
Dynamic Camouflage
- Clothing type, stance, movement, terrain surface, enemy distance, and weapon fire can affect visibility
- Ghillie suits, darker clothing, bright clothing, civilian clothing, woodland, desert, jungle, and snow-style gear are handled through dynamic profile logic
- Suppressed fire creates less exposure than unsuppressed fire
- Standing, sprinting, close-range movement, and recent firing increase enemy visibility
Vehicle Damage Improvements
- Heavy anti-tank weapons cause more meaningful subsystem damage
- Tanks, APCs, cars, MRAPs, helicopters, and other vehicles receive more believable damage handling
- ACE vehicle damage is detected and respected to avoid conflicting damage systems
Weapons And Projectiles
- Launcher and magazine weights are adjusted for more believable stamina and loadout balance
- PCML, NLAW, RPG, and launcher handling are improved from the original balance issues
- Rockets and missiles include stronger fly-by feedback
- AI launcher behaviour is improved against slow, low-flying air targets
- Grenade launcher zeroing is made more consistent
Grenades, Flares, And Flashlights
- Hand grenades bounce less unrealistically
- Smoke grenades bounce less unrealistically
- 40mm smoke rounds bounce less unrealistically
- Flares are brighter and more useful at night
- Flashlights provide stronger night visibility while avoiding forced daylight beam behaviour
Terrain And UI Readability
- Terrain concealment values are improved for grass and surface-based hiding
- Larger compass for easier bearing checks
- Map visuals adjusted for clearer roads, terrain lines, forests, grids, and topographic readability
Body Fall Feedback
- Body fall feedback uses vanilla Arma 3 assets
- Surface-aware fall sounds for grass, dry grass, sand, gravel, concrete, wood, and water
- No custom sound dependency for cleaner compatibility
- Removed forced scope behaviour that caused unwanted zoom and optic conflicts
- Removed hidden arsenal content so clothing, goggles, and civilian items are not unexpectedly missing
- Removed intrusive inventory sounds
- Removed excessive blast refraction effects that caused visual distortion and compatibility complaints
- Removed action menu text suppression that could break custom addAction prompts and interaction mods
- Avoided animation timing overrides that could conflict with animation overhaul mods
- Rebuilt body fall logic to avoid old parameter errors and RPT spam
- Re-signed the mod with fresh multiplayer keys
- Repacked using clean modular PBOs
- ree_core.pbo – shared settings, startup logic, and support functions
- ree_camo.pbo – dynamic camouflage and AI detection influence
- ree_armor.pbo – vehicle damage handling and anti-armor improvements
- ree_fx.pbo – body fall feedback effects
- ree_weapons.pbo – weapon, launcher, grenade, flare, flashlight, and projectile tweaks
- ree_terrains.pbo – terrain and concealment adjustments
- ree_ui.pbo – map and compass readability improvements
