Mod Description

Many moods ago, Krumiro released a mod called RW Realistic Flight Mode which was designed on the premise that construction, research and training projects should not be paused while the avenger or skyranger are in flight.

At the time, the author did not have access to some of the more sophisticated tools we have at our disposal today & by current XCOM2 modding standards the mod is a bit lacking in its implementation and CHL broke compatibility with it from v1.29 which was some time ago.

So, I’ve decided to make a lightweight version using a completely different methodology which can be applied to existing campaigns, maintains compatibility with CHL and requires no invasive hooks.

So, if you want your engineers to keep engineering, your researchers to keep researching and your builders to keep buiding, all while the Avenger is on-the-move, this is the mod for you!

Whilst it does affect difficulty by a small amount, given the plethora of massively gameplay altering stuff there is on the workshop, I’d say this is a pretty small adjustment!

It should be said that mods should be able to specifically over-ride the behaviour set here by setting bProgressesDuringFlight = false on any custom projects. Ping me if this doesn’t work as expected as it’s not been tested yet!

Notes

I would recommend using this alongside the very useful Upcoming Events mod, which displays upcoming projects (< 48h long) in hours rather than days, which helps with granular control.

I’m also looking into a CHL fix which will enable the event queue to be displayed while flying as well (the video has an experimental version of this fix activated, which is how it’s possible to see the event time decreasing as the avenger flies around).

Requires loading a strategy save – do not install and load into tactical!
