The M1 Garand was the result of decades of tests and development of semi automatic rifles for the US army,being accepted into service in 1937,and by 1941 the whole army was equipped with them.It saw very heavy action during WW2,and it was known as a very effective semi automatic infantry rifle.George S. Patton called it "The greatest battle implement ever devised".
