The Second World War lasted until 1952, only ending after the nuking of Frankfurt.
The peace that followed was unstable. Governments used martial law, censorship, and oppression to keep order and prevent an all-out collapse. For decades, society remained heavily militarised and filled with unrest.
Until 1988. The divided German nation fell into civil war, triggering a chain reaction across the world. The USSR dissolved, American states started breaking away, rebellions spread through every continent. By the new millenium, the old world order had become nothing more than a paragraph in history books, and no nation was safe from revolution.
