Last Hope 05 – The Cold Breach
OPERATION: THE COLD BREACH
Difficulty: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5 Stars)
Situation Update: The Silent Ghost
For the past 72 hours, NATO has been playing a lethal game of hide-and-seek. Operation "Blue Feint" was designed to be the ultimate deception. To ensure the Soviet Northern Fleet remained focused on the USS Saratoga to the south, your task group, TG 41.2 "Full House", took EMCON to the extreme.
You haven’t just kept your radars cold; you have kept your flight deck empty. Not a single E-2 Hawkeye or F-14 Tomcat was launched, denying the Soviet ELINT satellites and Tu-95 "Bear" scouts any electronic trail to follow. Hugging the jagged Norwegian coastline, the Nimitz moved like a shadow under the umbrella of land-based coastal defenses, aiming for a point-blank ambush on the Soviet capital ships.
The Breach:
The gamble has failed. A Norwegian P-3 Orion has just reported a Victor III SSN right in your path, and the USS Los Angeles has confirmed the unthinkable. The Soviet Battlecruiser Kirov and carrier Kiev are not 500 miles away – they are 315 miles out and charging at flank speed.
They weren’t fooled. They were waiting. The silence you maintained didn’t hide you; it only left you blind. Now, the predator has cornered its prey.
The Final Strike:
While you have encountered Tu-22M Backfires and Tu-16 Badgers in previous skirmishes, intelligence reports that this time is different. Moscow knows that if the Nimitz is not destroyed now, the war for the North Atlantic is lost. Every flight-ready airframe the Northern Fleet possesses has been put into the air. This isn’t a harassment raid, it is a total, "all-in" decapitation strike.
Your Orders:
Admiral, the time for silence is over. Wake the giant.
Emergency Scramble: Break EMCON immediately. Activate the AEGIS shield and scramble the entire air wing. Your hangars are full, but your decks are empty – you must get your F-14s into the air before the first "Granit" missiles clear the horizon.
Neutralize the Victor: The Victor III submarine is the "eyes" for the incoming strike. Sink it before it can refine the coordinates for the Soviet bombers.
The Coastal Ambush: Leverage the Norwegian 22nd MTB Squadron. Hidden in the fjords near Alta, these "Hauk" boats are your only tactical surprise left. Their Penguin missiles must find their mark.
Kill the Kirov: The heart of the storm is the RKR Kirov. You must locate and destroy it. This is no longer an ambush, it is a duel to the death.
Intelligence Report:
Aerial Threat: Total. The entire Soviet naval aviation wing is inbound. This is a saturation attack on a scale never seen before.
Naval Threat: Massive. SAG "Northern Thunder" is led by the Kirov and Kiev, screened by a wall of Udaloy and Sovremenny-class destroyers.
Support: Remnants of the USAF 57th FIS (F-15C) from Bodø are your only hope for an outer-air-battle screen. They are already engaging the first wave.
Victory Conditions:
Protect the USS Nimitz and sink the RKR Kirov. The Northern Fleet has thrown its last card on the table. You must be the one to break it. There will be no second chances. Hold the line.
