HatedMekkr’s Workshop: Visors
Hello, Drifters!
Finally, after some time, I come back to you and present a new mod – HatedMekkr’s Workshop: Visors.
Visors are designed more for crossbowmen, having bonuses to perception and ranged combat, but having penalties to melee, such as attack, defence and martial arts.
So far, this is the biggest and comprehensive project I’ve worked on for Kenshi, as I’ve decided to work on new aspects of the game that I’ve wanted to try for a long time.
It’s not just about new items, but also more in-depth work on the progression of these items, their "backgrounds", as well as the addition of new and unique NPCs that they will also have a unique dialogues, talking about these new visors.
What about visors: they have unique models that I was able to make myself. This is my second experience in creating new models since Simple Katanas. The same thing with textures for them.
Of course, I tried to make everything as close as possible to the style of the original game.
And I hope – I did everything right.
6 visors have been made:
- Visor L-ND10/T1-PROTO;
- Visor L-ND10/T1;
- Visor N-SB86/T2;
- Visor СTT-N44/T3; (Have [L] and [R] versions)
- Visor M-RG29/T4; (Have [L] and [R] versions)
- Visor V-HM71/T5.
Each of the model is distributed to each type/tier.
It is indicated by the index " T* " in the name.
Special versions have been made for several Hives:
- Hive Worker: Has additional letters "HW" in the name;
- Hive Prince: Has additional letters "HP" in the name.
Special versions have been made for Skeletons and Sub-Races:
- Skeleton: Has additional letters "S" in the name;
- Skeleton – LogHead: Has additional letters "LH" in the name;
- Skeleton – P4: Has additional letters "P4" in the name;
- Skeleton – Screamer: Has additional letters "SCR" in the name.
The Skeleton versions of the visors use a Belt slot.
There are also separate versions for the Belt Slot, so you can combine visors with other headgears.
There are also several color variations:
- Default; (Gray)
- Black;
- Green;
- Sand.
FUNCTIONALLY, Each type/tier of visors is different from each other:Each next model will be better than the previous one, having other and better parameters.
VISUALLY, each type/tier of visors differs from each other visually, which gives more variety not only inside the mod, but also in the game.
First of all, to craft a new armor, you need my other mod – Hatedmekkr’s Workshop – Workbenches. All the crafting is done through my workbenches so as not to clutter up the vanilla ones.
New visors can be crafted on "HatedMekkr’s Plate Armour Crafting Bench".
Do you remember what I said about progression? I will try to write extremely clearly and fully about this.
To start research visors, first you need to study the "main" technology of these visors.
There are 3 of these technologies:
-
Technology of Basic Visors:
– Value: 5000 k;
– Requirements: Research Bench LvL.2, Hats and Headgears, Plate Armour Crafting.
– Opens access to the research:
- Visor L-ND10/T1-PROTO;
- Visor L-ND10/T1. (Opens after studying "L-ND10/T1-PROTO Visor")
-
Technology of Improved Visors:
– Value: 17.500 k;
– Requirements: Research Bench LvL.3, Technology of Basic Visors.
– Opens access to the research:
- Visor N-SB86/T2;
- Visor СTT-N44/T3. (Opens after studying "Visor N-SB86/T2")
-
Technology of Advanced Visors:
– Value: 35.700 k;
– Requirements: Research Bench LvL.3, Technology of Improved Visors.
– Opens access to the research:
- Visor M-RG29/T4;
- Visor V-HM71/T5. (Opens after studying "Visor M-RG29/T4")
After researching a specific visor, crafting versions for hives will also be available along with the regular version for humans.[/b]
Also, after studying a specific visor, it will open up the possibility of studying Skeleton Versions and All Colors.
(For example, if you have studied "Visor V-HM71/T5", then "Visor V-HM71/T5 [Skeleton Versions]" and "V-HM71/T5 Visor [All Colors]" will appear)
Now let’s talk about new and unique NPCs… About one, i mean.
I don’t want to tell you right away which NPC is located and which visors it sells.
I want to do the same as the Kenshi developers are doing in creating Kenshi 2 at the moment.
They don’t want to share information, leaving themselves more room to change some aspects of the game, and leaving us, the players, with more content that we ourselves could have found at the time of the game’s release.
I really hope that you will understand me.
He is located in the city of Tech Hunters – Black Scratch..
You can purchase "Technology of Basic Visors" from him and buy visors of the appropriate level.
Also, in a dialogue with him, you can get a hint to another NPC, who will also help you get new technologies and visors.
Each NPC is hanging out at a local bar, and each NPC will have a visor on himself.
So looking carefully!
In dialogues with new NPCs, you will be able to get a tip where you could get new visors.
At the moment, it’s not working.
Other than purchasing visors from these NPCs, or crafting them yourself, you can’t get visors.
In the future, I want to make upgrades that add items to new locations, as well as create new or upgrade existing squads of wandering NPCs in the world that have visors.
(With new updates – the information here will be changed)
As with my previous mods, I think there should be no conflicts with other mods due to the unique names of items, etc.
I’m not sure, but if new NPCs will not appeared in the cities, you need to make a Game Import.
