This mod is intended to make colonization better and less tedious, while keeping it mostly vanilla. It adds many ways to improve control over your colonial subjects.

What the mod adds to the game:

  • Slightly changes colonial flags;
  • Removes many of the native tribes at the start of the game, and reduce their abilty to spread and settle land;
  • Slows colonization (-50% growth);
  • Adds an event that slowly spreads a colonial subject’s primary culture through its provinces (the event does not trigger on provinces with accepted culture);
  • Change the colonial nation’s ideas to remove their religious tolerance;
  • Reduces the impact of the Treaty of Tordesillas by completely removing the debuffs, but keeping a +10 colonial growth bonus for the one who gets it;
  • Subject nations above 95% liberty desire with any country supporting their independance will get an event that triggers and forces an independance war (does not affect subject nations vassal to a player);
  • Adds bonus for your colonial subjects depending on your colonial policy (i.e. a native repression policy will give your colonial nation bonus to culture conversion, while a cohabitation policy will increase their number of accepted cultures);
  • Colonial subjects can still attack natives, but if they declare war on another colony, the overlord will be called in (this prevents a much weaker colonial adversary with a large colony taking the land of your smaller colonial subjects);
  • Adds an event to keep colonies within their own colonial borders (PCB), this event only trigger if the colony’s borders are touching, and can be toggled ON and OFF;
  • Adds two interactions in the influence tab that allows you to revoke your subject’s colonists, or their accepted cultures;
  • The "Seize Land" action is available for your Colonies and Personal Unions;
  • Slightly changed Portugal’s color.

Here are the separate mods I made and included in Better Vanilla Colonialism:
