Resource requirements are very reasonable for a starter. The Neodymium will be the most difficult to procure, but your starter should have at least one CV wreck with lots of thrusters to salvage. Out of the box, thrust is primarily provided by small thrusters. We recommend upgrading all of them (11 of the 13 total) to mediums ASAP for improved flight performance – they all easily drop into place. The Large constructor can be upgraded to an Advanced very easily. There are still 3 or 4 1×1 spaces for any other devices you may wish to add like a Repair station.
The thrust upgrade can be done without needing a CPU upgrade, but if you’re also going to add the Compact Shield and/or a couple turrets/Sentry guns, there is space for a Basic extender above the Core in the engineering room. The Compact Shield is highly recommended due the rather…explosive nature of Reforged v1.4’s detonation changes. An ammo controller or ammo box can be added in the space behind the port side thruster. A second generator should not be neccessary but there is room for one too.
Fully upgraded, your Neodymium requirements are still shy of 1500 so outfitting the Abalone won’t break the bank. A wrecked CV and some Alien block Xeno salvage from an Abandoned POI will easily get you were you need to be.
The Abalone should work just fine in vanilla but has not been tested.
