This guide will help you to understand main mechanics in multiplayer battles.

Factions are divided on campaigns and historical army corps with own commanders. It’s highly recommended to pick armies of the same campaign. You can pick up to 80 units.

This mod is about linear warfare, so there are certain things you need to keep in mind.

Movement speed is slow and varies depending on terrain. Units will quickly get tired when they run and receive debuffs to firing, melee and morale. You have to deploy your army carefully and plan your strategy before the battle begins—you won’t be able to quickly redeploy your units.

In emergent situations you can use "Military Cadence" ability to increase speed (and charge) of units.

Charge is risky, but also effective. It’s not a main tactics (except for swedish units), but it may be a decisive factor. The best approach is to exhaust the enemy with firepower and then use your elite reserves with bayonets to break their lines.

Same is for cavalry, first use firepower, then find a moment to charge. Exceptions are swedish and english (and polish) cavalry, which are meant to use aggressively.

Morale is everything. You can win a battle or engagement by morale shock than by causing casualties.

Remember to keep units together and secure flanks. If you send unit alone, it will most likely rout and if you expose your flanks, you may cause a chain rout.

All units (except general) are hidden until you get relatively close or until they start running. Don’t run and don’t drag units when giving orders – they will become visible! It’s a Shogun 2 thing and i can’t do anything with it, so if you drag units make sure they don’t run.

Rise of Empires: Total War is a total overhaul of Total War: SHOGUN 2, fundamentally reworking every aspect of the game. It not only introduces significant changes to the core mechanics, but also focuses on delivering an immersive, interesting and historical experience of 18th century. The mod currently offers and spans The Great Northern war and the War of Spanish succession. Solid timeframe being 1700 – 1721

– Highly accurate uniforms down to the smallest details. From textures to proportions. Research and historical documentation has been very thoroughly gone through
– Realistic battles, with historical morale and balance.
– Beautiful sound design
– Historically accurate formations and army compositions, aswell as an interesting mercenary units class, as they played quite the role in the conflicts of the Dawn of the 18th century
– Historically accurate battle maps from the infamous battles of the conflicts using old map references
– A new corps system, that each faction is an army in itself to have an interesting visual with uniforms changing through the time like historically

If game crashes in custom battle or multiplayer menu/lobby, do this:
go to AppData>Roaming>The Creative Assembly>Shogun2

and delete these 5 folders:
Army_setups
Battle_preferences
Fx_cache
Ui_Cache
Scripts
if you are missing one of them, just ignore and delete the ones that you have.
If you still crash, try to move all other mods from data or reinstall clean game without any mods.
