Description:
Historically accurate deck gun ammunition!

SAVE GAME COMPATIBLE

Adds historically accurate 37 mm and 10.5 cm ammunition for the Type IX deck and AA guns. You can no longer just use "large deck gun ammunition" for all varieties of deck gun. The new 37 mm and 105 mm rounds will only work in their respective guns, and 88 mm only fires from 88 mm guns — calibre is a hard constraint at firing time, on every u-boat type.

The goal of this mod was to increase immersion and give you a reason to use the 37mm and think more carefully about your stored ammunition.

Rounds:

  • 37 mm & 105 mm AP and HE
  • 37 mm flak (AA) with a timed-fuse airburst – 2.5 seconds.
  • 105 mm star shell — parachute illumination flare for night surface actions, set to a more historic white light compared to vanilla’s red. Kept vanilla 88mm flares red for some variety.

Includes calibre-scaled tracers, flak burst effects, brightened night star-shell illumination, variations on vanilla icons to keep consistent arty style, and full localisation across all 14 languages.

Star shells and Flak rounds are locked behind the ammunition production HQ task.

Compatibility notes

This mod is save game compatible but there are two things to note. First, if you load it mid patrol you will be stuck with an ammo stockpile of 88mm rounds which will mean you can’t use the deck guns for that patrol on the Type IX. Second, disabling the mod will crash any save that has the mod’s ammunition in your boat or in country reserves — this is a UBOAT engine limitation (the save file stores prefab paths and the engine throws on a missing prefab at load). Keep a backup save before removing the mod.
