TOREADORES
Adds 33 new Spanish-bullmen-minotaur units and a new class – the plundering, gold-hungry bull-man Conquistador, who raids Elysium from the sky and makes off with its wealth. A nomadic playstyle built around exploring the map, discovering sacred, profitable landmarks, and pursuing short-term riches – both to the detriment of others, and yourself.
Toreador units are fast and powerful, but unreliably recruited. Gold income is lucrative, but inconsistent. The campaign relies on being mobile and opportunistic, and spreading yourself thin across the map.
Toreadores can pillage most settlements, destroying them and fighting the locals for large immediate gold gains. To balance, they struggle to hold territory without investing into it, and any owned gold or iron-producing tile without proper (expensive) infrastructure will eventually revolt. It is far more profitable to steal and destroy than it is to govern.
Toreadores rely on air superiority, and have a number of aerial units to enable their nomadic lives. The Dreadnought is a special terrain tile crucial to the class, which allows any unit to traverse across the map by leisurely air travel. The rest of their roster is filled with armoured chaff, powerful artillery, and 6 Toreador specialists, each with their own unique ritual mechanics. Flying Aeronauticists can drop bombs from the sky onto tiles below, while Paymasters can buy whole enemy armies (and sell Toreador mercenaries to enemies).
More or less balanced as an AI class. Playing as the Conquistador is more interesting when competing with other Conquistadors. Difficulty scales based on the size of the map.
It is recommended to look at the quick starting guide in the pinned discussion on this steam page for an overview of mechanics.
Edits terrain numbers 637 to 668. Edits terrain groups -1130 and -1131. Edits sound samples 191 and 192. Will conflict with any mod that also uses these numbers.
