Description:
This is a mod for REMASTERED, not classic!

This is an ever-evolving balancing mod to sort out the numerous balancing problems in vanilla Remastered, both for HW and HW2 units. It overhauls countless pieces of unit stats, behaviour and engine settings to improve the balancing in all aspects of the game, as well as restore functionality lost from Homeworld. Attention is also paid to the HW1 campaign in order to fix various semi-broken components, as well as re-introducing some difficulty that has been lost (read: Kadeshi death-swarms).

It’s all the UI re-scaling, menu re-sizes and changes you could ever want, in a single package which actually directly changes the UI proportions so you can have a UI that is clearly legible as well as not-huge.

Brief overview:

– Capital ships and frigates: universally more durable, less insta-death

– Strikecraft more viable: Homeworld 1 strikecraft price buffs
– Strikecraft more viable: Higher RoF with proportionally lower-damage: unscrews RNG system
– Strikecraft more viable: Non-AA capital ship kinetics idiotic RNG accuracy nerfed
– Bombers remain effectual, increased armour penetration vs frigates and capitals proportional to their extra health

– Restored Corvette circle-strafing behaviour from Homeworld to Homeworld-era corvettes
– Restored Missile Destroyer: longer range; missiles can now hit their targets – including fighters
– Resource collectors will hunt further to continue extracting resources, insteading of sitting idle

– Campaign Fixes: Kadeshi Swarmers now fast and deadly
– Campaign Fixes: Kadeshi Multibeam Frigates now spin.
– Campaign Fixes: Kadeshi Multibeam Frigates now are significantly deadlier.
– Campaign Fixes: Bentusi Tradeships player-repairable

– Player vs CPU/Multiplayer: New Unit Cap Presets: Enormous (167% of vanilla ‘Huge’) and Myriad (300% of vanilla ‘Huge’) for those who desire larger battles.

– Homeworld Class Names implemented to Homeworld units

– Countless other minor balance tweaks to both help improve gameplay and also restore Homeworld functionality

Changes, Latest Patch: 0.32:

‘Enormous’ Unit Cap preset added to custom games. Unit caps at ~167% of the vanilla ‘Huge’ preset,
e.g. 50 Fighter Squadrons, 60 Frigates, 42 Capitals

‘Myriad’ Unit Cap preset added to custom games. Unit caps at ~300% of the vanilla ‘Huge’ preset.
e.g. 90 Fighter Squadrons, 105 Frigates, 84 Capitals

Kadeshi Multi-Beam Frigates will now spin as best as they’re able. They won’t always make a full spin, but spin they shall.

Kadeshi Multi-Beam Frigates beam damage increased.

– Fixed a Gearbox coding error that gave Taiidani Heavy Cruisers double damage on their ion cannons. Bleh.

Ask and ye shall receive: new unit cap presets for massive fleet engagements enabled. Homeworld-era factions also receive same proportion increased capacity for their individual fighters and corvettes in these presets.

Changes, Previous Patch: 0.31:

(previous patches migrated to the Steam Workshop changelog area)

Major Balancing:

Taiidan and Kushan Heavy Cruiser Ions fixed. These were doing twice as much damage to frigates as they were meant to in the new engine. Penetration vs Medium Armour from 100% to 50%

Taiidan and Kushan Destroyers Ions fixed. These weren’t overperforming to the same scale as Heavy Cruisers, but were outputting roughly the health value of two whole assault frigates in damage per shot. Penetration vs Medium Armour from 100% to 60%.

Kadeshi Swarmers’ weapons tweaked down moderately. Likely to go back up if they aren’t beast-mode in testing, however.

These sound like very harsh changes, but they’re not. Even the HW2 Battlecruiser had the correct 50% damage versus frigate armour, whereas these boys were chewing up frigates as if they were made of tissue paper. In reality even with these changes these are still very deadly weapons against frigates, and they have lost no efficacy when fighting against other destroyers and cruisers. As always, these aren’t by definition final figures, and are subject to feedback.

I’m still working on capital ship DPS/squishiness. It’s very hard to pin down at the minute, but v0.30 should go some way towards helping, without crippling strikecraft. I’m going to make a pass on Defence Fields soon too – they currently run out so fast as to be utterly useless.
