Beyond the Sunset – Expanded Missions
Beyond the Sunset expands neglected nations and regions with new mission trees, events, government reforms, estate privileges, modifiers, and country-specific mechanics. It attempts to ground each nation in historical plausibility and regional identity, building distinct playstyles rather than falling back on generic conquest rewards.
The goal is simple: make more regions of the world feel complete, competitive, and worth playing.
This mod is under active development. At the moment, only Malaya and Tibet have received fully revamped designs.
- Monopolize Trade – Many would seek to extract the wealth of spices in Indonesia. Rather than letting ducats flow out of your nodes, lock down the centers of trade to ensure the riches from the spice trade are principally yours.
- Tame the Jungles – Indonesia has many jungles. Repeated development and colonization of these lands will confer a significant adaptation to the dense foliage.
- Naval Supremacy – There is one constant in around these parts: water. Any attempt to unify the islands must necessitate total naval supremacy.
- Expel the Ferringhi – Ensure no Europeans have a colonial presence in the region for a powerful offensive reward.
- Appease the Dragon and Reassess China – These missions have you navigate the complicated relationship between China and Tibet.
- Unite Tibet – The Tibetan Plateau starts fractured and weak. In order to resist would-be invaders, you must eliminate your rivals and reform your backward, tribal state.
- Renovate the Plateau – Tibet is not a land well-suited for urban development, but through deliberate efforts, your people can adapt to the harsh terrain and exploit the native beast of burdens: yaks.
- Revive Dzong Administration – Unlock a unique estate privilege to empower forts to serve as both administrative and military centers.
- Heartland of Dharma – Work toward the concept of a Chakravarti, a universal ruler who governs the subcontinent of India ethically and benevolently.
- Unify Buddhism – Consolidate the disparate Buddhist nations under one banner, conferring a powerful, until the end of game reward (so long as you remain Buddhist).
The next targets for revamp are Bharat/Hindustan, Nepal, and the Papal States.
Any mods that overwrite vanilla buildings will be incompatible with this mod. This is sadly unavoidable due how EU4 handles adding hooks to building construction/deletion.
