Johnnysam’s AI Buff
Sick of watching the AI find itself in a spiral of endless revolts and increasing debt? This mod seeks to remedy some of the disadvantages the AI has compared to the player by applying a modifier to all AI characters that should both make the AI a bit harder to play against and compensate more specifically for some of the AI’s weaknesses. The mod comes with two modifiers, Hard AI, and Very Hard AI, toggleable by gamerule. While this mod does make the AI more difficult to play against, it tries to avoid buffing the AI’s raw stats to the point of feeling unfair. Instead I’ve sought to just try to bring the AI up to play around the level where the player is, particularly on the Hard AI difficulty. The modifiers are listed below.
Also, some specific notes about a couple of the buffs. The highly reduced MAA recruitment cost is meant to compensate for the fact that the AI tends to disband large chunks of the MAA it owns as the income and size of its domain changes on succession. This allows them to rebuild after they’re able to re-expand with a lot less economic waste than in vanilla. Meanwhile the levy reinforcement rate is meant to help the AI when it ends up in a set of endless wars, as it tends to have 80% of its troops die and then just get stuck like that for 15 years while its still in three different wars. Most of the rest are either general power buffs or general stability buffs.
If you play with this mod but find yourself dissatisfied with specific parts of the buffs, it’s also very easy to edit the modifier values. Just find this mod in the installer in your playset, click on the triple dots that appear when you hover over the mod, and press show in folder, then go to common/modifiers/Jsam_ai_buff_modifiers.txt and any of these variables are tweakable there (I would back that up if you do, as the changes revert when the mod updates).
