TO MAKE IT WORK: At the start of the game, click on the NTE_decision decision. Do it at the very start before you unpause. Map gets fixed, your game is more fun.

There are too many spots of land on the 1836 map that nations like Denmark, Netherlands, and even Great Britain were desperate to be rid of, but which in Victoria 3 become stepping-stones to blobs of land that create massive bordergore. Are we to believe that 7 nearly-abandoned forts on the Gold Coast were enough to give Denmark a strong interest in West Africa? Please…

This mod takes on the following fixes:
1. Central America is tidied up so that Mexico gets Chiapas and UCA gets Miskito Coast.
2. South Peru takes in the wee enclave between it and North Peru so there are now fewer revolts in that part of the world.
3. The DEI takes in all of its puppets.
4. Philippines cleans up the local islands.
5. No Macau in China – Sorry, Portugal, but you don’t get a toe-hold in China. Maybe if trade ports couldn’t host more than 10 battalions and not eat up all the construction in a state, I’d let it stay.
6. Johore gets the non-British parts of Malaya.
7. The Danish, French, and Portuguese trade ports in India go to the EIC. Again, I’m just sick and tired of watching 500 battalions stack up on a trade port and use it to conquer India…
8. Persia and Makran get their coastline back from Oman and Bahrain.
9. Ethiopia is now one big ready-to-go state.
10. Massina gets to be all Toukolor with Segou and Kaarta absorbed.
11. Portuguese outposts removed from West Africa and Cameroon. If they want colonies, they can focus on Angola and Mozambique.
12. British West Africa gets all of Sierra Leone and Gold Coast, loses the Guinea and Cameroon bits. They were going to buy the Dutch and Danish abandoned slave forts eventually, let’s just get it over with.
13. No more puppets for the EIC. It’s now one big nation and it makes for a better game. I know because I tested it out.

If I leave a tiny nation or enclave, it’s because it actually has some value in the game and it’s not being abused by the computer-controlled opponents to do weird stuff. There are also consolidations that I’ve tried that go too far and make the AI do weird stuff if, like, Central Asia is too consolidated.

This is what works and I plan to use this along with the mod I’m working on to improve African colonialism.
