Description:

ACM + KAT Hybrid Medical

I peered into the void of Arma 3 medical mods, and it said: “Why not both?”

This mod uses Blue’s ACM as a base and merges in three major features from KAT Medical:

Surgery (fractures only)
Ophthalmology (eye injuries)
Hypothermia (cold exposure)

I like both medical mods, and I got tired of the awkward “mom and dad don’t talk anymore” situation between them. So, with enough effort and a questionable amount of spaghetti code, I mashed them together into one larger mod.

Notes

If you dig through the source code, I apologise in advance. I am not especially good with SQF, and a lot of this was almost certainly done in the least optimised way possible and some stuff straight up might not work right now.

I have also taken some liberties with certain items and removed a few features that did not make much sense to me, so some parts may not behave exactly how you would expect from the original mods.

At the time of posting, some KAT/KAM content is labelled as “ACM” for functional purposes. That is only temporary naming for implementation reasons. Original authors are still credited in the source code.

Medical Accuracy

Please note that I am not formally trained in TCCC or real-life medicine. Most of what is included here is based on conversations with paramedics, combat medics, and ICU workers, so some medication dosages or behaviours may be inaccurate.

If you spot anything incorrect, please let me know.

Compatibility / Updates

The aim is to stay broadly in line with major ACM updates where feasible, but compatibility may get a little sketchy if major upstream features change.

I am also likely to make my own balance changes over time based on player feedback.

There is no documentation for this version of the two mods at this time, most documentation from ACM/KAT is applicable here.

Roadmap

Honestly, most of the stuff I like from KAT is now in, I don’t see the point in adding the kidney function unless people really want it, I wasn’t a fan of the pericardial surgery and ultrasound stuff either so it’s not planned as getting it to work with ACM’s cardiac stuff would be a nightmare.

I might look at adding the drugs from KAT into ACM but most of them are insanely niche use-cases.
