Smart Vassals
Current version: 1.5
About the mod
This mod reworks vassal behavior, making it more logical and predictable. Its main goal is to separate minor personal conflicts from large-scale politics.
In vanilla, even a small grievance can often escalate into a full-scale rebellion. This mod addresses that issue by introducing the "Discontent" system, which determines when vassals are actually ready to act against you.
Core Mechanics
- Feud System:
Vassals no longer exist in isolation. They form alliances or rivalries based on their personality traits (Morality, Wealth, Methods).
This creates internal realm politics where not every conflict is directed at the ruler. - Discontent System:
A global parameter that determines how likely vassals are to scheme or revolt. Personal hatred no longer automatically leads to rebellion. - Council Improvements:
The penalty for not appointing a powerful vassal to the council is reduced from -40 to -20, allowing for more flexibility in government composition. - Liege Competence:
Your traits and skills directly affect the overall level of discontent in your realm. A strong ruler means a stable realm.

Consequences of Your Actions
Unjust decisions, executions without cause, and excessive taxation are no longer easily forgotten. Their effects accumulate over time and directly impact the long-term stability of your realm.
