Pat’s NPC – Project Remnants [B42 SP]
Project Remnants is an early human NPC survivor mod for Project Zomboid Build 42.19.

Project Remnants is built around one goal: make NPC survivors feel like real party members instead of decorative bodies. Recruit companions, command them, switch control, share inventory, fight together, and survive Knox Country as a group.

– Human NPC survivor companions with party control and orders.
– Character possession: take control of an NPC while your original body continues as an AI-controlled party member.
– Control transfer and death failover when the controlled character dies.
– Dynamic following with direct steering and A* pathfinding.
– Group-aware follow spacing.
– Save/load support for position, gear, worn items, hands, health, orders, follow target, and party state.
– Party inventory transfer UI.
– Visible-threat detection so NPCs do not attack enemies hidden behind solid walls or closed doors.
– Melee combat AI with spacing, retreating, shoving, stomping, and horde pressure checks.
– Ranged combat AI with ammo checks, reload handling, aiming confidence, friendly-fire safety, and shot timing.
– Experimental vehicle support, including NPC vehicle entry/exit and autopilot-style route behavior.
Combat AI
Project Remnants aims for NPC combat that feels less artificial: visible threat checks, group positioning, spacing, retreat decisions, crawler handling, shove logic, ranged confidence, and friendly-fire safety.
NPC Autopilot Driving
Vehicle support is experimental, but the goal is real NPC vehicle behavior: entering, exiting, following vehicle orders, and driving routes through autopilot-style systems.
