Japanese Naming Options
This small mod adds several options for how dynasties and houses in Japan are displayed in the game.
Different historical and stylistic naming conventions can be selected through in-game decisions, allowing you to customize how Japanese characters appear.

Naming Styles
- Possessive Dynasty Style
Example: Minamoto no Yoritomo - Vanilla CK3 Style
Example: Minamoto Yoritomo - House Name Style
Example: Kawachi Yoritomo
Yamato Surname Option
Japanese emperors historically did not use a family surname in their personal names.
This mod allows you to hide the Yamato surname for members of the Imperial House to better reflect this.
Example:
Yamato Go-Daigo → Go-Daigo
How to Use
- Open the Decisions menu
- Select Choose Japanese Naming System
- Pick your preferred naming style
Compatibility
This mod only changes name display and should be compatible with most mods.
