Description:

Dragons and Their Kin adds 3 eras of a nation based loosely on the kobolds of Illwinter’s other game, Conquest of Elysium.

In EA, the nation is mainly driven by powerful and expensive dragons that take time to grow and must use magic to lay eggs (but otherwise can be slowly recruited in the capital). Adult and older dragons also automatically produce dragonspawn, although these freespawn troops are small and weak and ill-equipped.

In MA, the dragons are gone and only the dragonspawn remain. Shaman can summon sacred drakes and they automatically organize (summon) freespawn similar to the dragons in EA, but without the power of those dragons their path to success must rely on overwhelming their opponents with numbers. Sorcerers are single path casters that can transform themselves into winged "noble" versions. Dragonspawn recruitment is based upon terrain: blue and white in mountains; blue and green in swamps; green and red in forests; red and white in wastes; black dragonspawn appear in caves; a sixth amphibious type appears on coasts and underwater.

In LA, most dragonspawn have brown scales and are more organized than before. The freespawn mechanic is gone, but sacred dragonspawn of the six MA colors (and with sometimes more quirky abilities) can be recruited in forts according to the terrain rules above. Dragonspawn can create immobile single-battle traps of various kinds. The capital allows recruitment of more powerful dragonspawn commanders with golden scales as well as sacred wyvern riders, and all the transformation magic of MA still exists.

In total, there are 7 weapons, 152 units, 3 nametypes, 30 spells, 10 montags, 3 nations, and 6 poptypes in the mod.
— Weapons 2791 – 2797
— Armor N/A (none used)
— Units 9501 – 9652
— Nametype 276 – 278
— Spells 6001 – 6022
— Items N/A (none used)
— Montags 3001 – 3010
— Nations 451 – 453
— Poptype 135 – 141

A couple of items remain on the to-do list for this mod (not counting balance tweaks or bugfixes):
* All three nations use the same flag; at some point I will differentiate their flags.
* Most of the sprites that came directly from CoE are missing their shadows (because CoE does not use shadows); at some point I will add those.

Suggestions/Requests from others, that I’d like to add:
* Add lair spells castable by dragons with various effects such as dragonspawn summons, xp gains (for dragon growth), gold increases, remote drake attacks, and more.
* Make a version that’s explicitly compatible with Divinitus.
* Make a second MA represented by undead dragons (and their cultists); lean on dracoliches, carrion dragons, banefire dragons, ghost/spectral dragons, vampire dragons, and… banefrost dragons? Maybe have a Tiamat-style amalgam/corpse golem summon and skeletal drakes.

Finally, a shout out to my younger child for some rough QA work, and my buddies from the old Something Awful Dominions 3 community who are still friends, even after we’ve all moved on from that community.
