Description:
Make villager and building info actually useful.

Version 1.31.33

Tired of hovering over a sword icon and reading "Weapons"? Or wondering why your guard’s range damage reads 41 instead of 30?

Better UI overhauls the villager popup and the building info window so they actually tell you what’s going on — per-tier stat breakdowns, real weapon names, source-attributed bonuses (Guard: +4, Garrisoned: +5, etc.), and a lot of small polish so you don’t have to squint at the game’s stock UI.

No balance changes. Every value shown (weapon damage, attack range, building HP, the Garrisoned range bonus, and so on) is a number Farthest Frontier already calculates on its own. Better UI just reads it and shows it to you — it never adds, buffs, or rebalances anything. (The one thing it does rather than display is a convenience button that sends an un-garrisoned guard walking back to her tower — the very same order you could give by hand.) Uninstall any time and your save is untouched.

Note on Armor Piercing: Farthest Frontier itself turns OFF a guard’s armor-piercing while they’re garrisoned in a tower, so a tower’s arrows don’t pierce armor even though that guard’s bow normally would. Better UI only displays the weapon’s trait — it doesn’t change this behavior. A separate mod of mine, Better Guard Towers, restores tower armor-piercing (and makes towers fire each garrisoned guard’s own weapon).

What this mod does
  • Adds HP/Armor, Melee Dmg/Spd, and Range Dmg/Spd/Dist rows directly to the villager popup
  • Hover any stat row for a per-source breakdown (weapon, Guard occupation, equipment, garrison bonus, etc.)
  • Shows specific weapon names ("Sword", "Halberd", "Hauberk") instead of vanilla’s generic categories
  • Highlights stats from temporary buffs (garrison, etc.) in green so you can tell what’s transient
  • Shows the warmth bonus on Hide Coat and Linen Clothes tooltips
  • Pin a villager popup open (hold the hover for a moment) so it stays put while you look around
  • Return an un-garrisoned guard to her tower in one click — a button (with a custom tower-and-arrow icon) appears on a guard who has left her post; clicking it sends her walking back to re-garrison (no teleport). Works in both the main panel and the pinned popup.
  • The Garrisoned (guard tower) icon and the green range-buff highlight now update live the instant a guard enters or leaves her tower — no need to click off and re-select her
  • Adds HP / Armor bars to the Trading Post and Trading Center windows
  • Per-tier breakdown tooltips on building upgrade-bonus icons (HP, armor, damage, range)
  • Adds missing info to tech tooltips — e.g., that the Wheel-Lock Crossbow tech also lets hunters and guards equip crossbows
  • Lots of small UI polish — icon ordering, "+" badges, layout fixes, cleaner tooltips

A guard who has left her tower gets a Return to Guard Tower button — one click walks her back to re-garrison (no teleport). The garrison icon and range buff update live as she enters and leaves.

Install
  • Requires MelonLoader, with the game launched in Mono mode.
  • Subscribe, launch in Mono, and restart once — that’s it.
