Nihon’s 1900 C.E
The year is 1900. A new Century has dawned upon the world. The Congress of Europe continues, ever so slowly. Awaiting it’s grand spark that will ignite the end of the old order. The decline of the Ottomans has become apparent, with the occupation of Bosnia by the Austrians, and the unification of Bulgaria & East Rumelia, Ottoman power and influence is waning drastically. Foreign powers begin taking advantage of this decline, and extract economic concessions from the Ottomans. The rivalry between Germany and France becomes more and more apparent, as a war seems to be on the horizon. How long this horizon would arrive, however, was uncertain…
In the East, the Boxer Rebellion, initiated by the Boxer Movement under the command of Cao Futian, fighting against the growing influence of Europe. In the plain isles of the Philippines, the Spanish imperialists have been kicked out of Asia as a whole. The U.S. were transferred control over the Philippines and all Spanish possessions in the Pacific and Americas following the Spanish-American War. Despite this, local Filippino independence movements declare their own state, fighting against the U.S. military occupation on their isle.
The African continent was almost completely occupied by Imperialist powers. The Germans, Portuguese, French, Belgians, Italians, and British partition the continent among them, with cases of resistance being apparent across the continent, especially in South Africa, where the Boer Republics make one final stand against the British tide. In East Africa, the Dervish State gathers it’s forces in a perpetual war of resistance against the encroaching power of Italy and Britain over their territory, as Somalia is engulfed in Colonial occupations. The once powerful Sokoto Caliphate in West Africa had fallen far, being nothing more than a devastated and decaying state among the European forces. Yet the question is, will the last independent states of Africa fall like dominos before Europe? Or shall Africa achieve it’s true power and freedom? Time will tell…
A period of relative territorial stability has reigned in North America, yet this is not the case in South America. Tensions rise in the region as Brazil and Bolivia face off over the fate of the Acre region, while Colombia faces a civil war between it’s Conservative government supported by the Military, and it’s Liberal revolution led by the Colombian Liberal Party. Brazil seeks to establish it’s claims to Colombian and Ecuadorian land, along with Peru looking to it’s northern neighbor Ecuador over border disputes. Paraguay, battered by the grand War of the Triple Alliance many years before, looks to a new target for it’s expansion; Bolivia. Bolivia, a crumbling and decaying power, begins losing land to the vultures surrounding them. Having already lost land to Argentina & Brazil, Bolivia will stand tall and defend it’s territory until the last breath.
As the world begins to devolve, it is unclear what the fate of the world will be. A new world order, or the sustainment of the old? Time will tell, in this map of the world in 1900 C.E.
