Description

The goal of this mod is to make the Fanatic fight feel more unique. The vanilla version feels too similar to the hag fight to me and so I set out to overhaul the fight. Expect the fight to be on par with some of the bosses in the game and make sure that you prepare for it accordingly. If you go up against him without some planning, you’re more than likely to have a very rough time.

The Changes:

Fanatic

The Fanatic will start each round by marking someone with Brand the Tainted, targeting Cursed heroes if available. This happens before the turn begins and will not consume an action. As his first move each round, he will use Sentence Rendered putting a marked target on the Pyre. The second move will be Righteous Condemnation if the pyre is full, moving Fanatic to the front and buffing him. Overall the Fanatic will be more in the front than before moving back only at the start of each round when he marks someone. He has less speed, so that you’ll be able to move before he captures someone. He has less hp and prot than before as well, but thanks to the buffs from his skills, he deals more damage than before. I’ve also added some other new effects to his moves.

The Pyre

The Pyre now has an aura that increases the stress damage received by your party as well as a few other auras. When full, the Pyre will use Scream of Pain at the end of each round to deal stress damage to your party. Empty Pyre will buff Fanatic’s speed at the end of each round. Now also drops 2 Consecrated Pews on death like the wooden obstacles in the Prophet fight.

New Unique Fanatic Trinkets!

I have made 4 new trinkets which are only dropped by the Fanatic. 2 of the trinkets form a set that has a different special bonus for each religious class!

New Spawn For Fanatic

You will now have a guaranteed encounter with the Fanatic when you go into any dungeon with a party of 4 cursed heroes. This is in addition to the previous town event spawn that he has.

Details:

Fanatic now only has 2 actions per round as opposed to the previous 3.
Speed decreased by 3 on all levels.
HP decreased by 10% on all levels.
PROT decreased by 5% on all levels.

Brand the Tainted
– Used before each round
– Buffs Fanatic’s skills vs Marked for 2 turns
+10 ACC
+20% DMG
– Lower ACC than other skills
– Now moves the Fanatic back
– Can not target already marked heroes (will still trigger but won’t do anything)

Sentence Rendered
– Only targets Marked heroes

Righteous Condemnation
– Moves the Fanatic forward instead of back
– Increases DMG by 30% for 2 actions (still applies +25% PROT)
– Can’t be used 2 rounds in a row
– Weak stun
50/60/70%

Holy Stake
– Buffed bleed effect
4/5/5 DoT
100/120/145% chance

Strike the Heretic
– No changes

Fury of the Righteous
– Increased damage by 2

New Skill

Purge the Wicked
– Targets everyone
– Only used when no one is marked and the Pyre is empty.
– 3-5 | 4-7 | 7-11 DMG, -30% damage to heroes without Crimson Curse
– 70% +5 stress
– Buff Fanatic’s PROT +20% for 2 turns

Empty Pyre
– Added PROT 5/10/15%
– Increases Fanatic’s speed & crit at the end of each round
1/2/3 SPD for 2 turns
3/4/5% CRIT for 2 turns
+15% stress damage received aura
+5/7/10 Fanatic dodge aura

Full Pyre
– Added PROT 5/10/15%
– Reduced HP by 15% on all levels
– Deals 6/8/10 stress damage to everyone at the end of each round
+15% stress damage received aura
-20% heroes’ stun resistance aura
+30% Fanatic stun resistance aura
-20% Fanatic move resistance aura

Trinkets

Fanatic’s Stake
+25% DMG if any foe is a Bloodsucker
+3% CRIT if any foe is a Bloodsucker
-25% DMG if no foe is a Bloodsucker

Curse Repellant
+15% PROT if any foe is a Bloodsucker
+25% Healing Received if any foe is a Bloodsucker
+30% Bleed Resist if any foe is a Bloodsucker
+100% Disease Resist if any foe is a Bloodsucker
+100% DMG received if affected by the Crimson Curse

Broken Branding Scepter
+12% CRT vs Marked
+10 ACC vs Marked
+25% Stress
-15% Virtue Chance

Scripture of the Righteous
+5% PROT
+10% Healing Skills
+10% PROT if Stress above 60
+10% Healing Skills if stress above 60
+10% PROT if Afflicted
+10% Healing Skills if Afflicted
+15% Stress
-15% Virtue Chance

Set bonus for Scepter + Scripture
Crusader’s Smite: +25% DMG
Flagellant’s Bleed of Sorrows: +30% Debuff Skill Chance
Leper’s Solemnity: +50% Healing Received
Vestal’s Dazzling Light: +15 ACC
