Play As Roman Republic
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE READ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This mod makes it so that you have the ability to play as the Roman Republic in a semi historically plausible manner.
This mod adds 2 advancements to allow you to get bureacracies. As far as I know these advances do not apply to Byz so you can’t get even more as them if you choose to go Rome. One in age of traditions to just unlock them, and one in age of discovery to get you one more.
YOU ARE NOT GIVEN ALL OF THE BUREACRACIES. I tried to give what made sense from both a gameplay perspective and a historical perspective, as in I tried to skew from bureacracies that had a clear Greek influence. So you get the Senate, but not Strategarchia. I also have a soft spot for some bureacracies so I had to throw some in that clearly did have Greek influence, I am not perfect and this is my mod.
Yes getting only 2 bureacracies is also by design, this isn’t Byz forming Rome carrying over their experience with bureacracies, its some dudes in Rome who were like I wanna larp as Romans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
While you do get the Byzantine events, I can’t guarantee you will get many of them, they’re just tied to the Rome tag now.
You also do not get access to Byzantine advances or laws. It is A, really overpowered, and B, just doesn’t make sense.
TO PLAY AS THE ROMAN REPUBLIC:
Play as the Papal States, until you get an event titled "Cola Di Rienzo"
PICK THE SECOND OPTION.
The event should happen around 1345 in my game, but it may vary.
If you don’t want to wait and are okay with using the console you can force the event by typing "event rebel.1"
On Balance:
This mod does not start you out in the best situation, you are a vassal, and are of county status, this is by design. I did a dry run of this concept by starting out as Byz, then giving away all my land and taking Rome. I found that even with a pagan religion surrounded by catholics, it was way too easy to beat Naples and the surrounding coalitions you get from expansions, so I decided to set it up like this to make it a more challenging experience. Though obviously, you are still Rome, you still get access to some of the best advances in the game. I haven’t played an entire game with this balancing, so feedback would be appreciated. I don’t want it to be uber easy to play as Roman larpers, I do want to give the option to those who want it though. Have fun !!!
