Nomina culturalia maxima [EOE]
Nomina Culturalia Maxima – Embers of Empire Version is a compatibility compilation for Crusader Kings III cultural title and place names.
This version is built on top of Embers of Empire – A Roman Restoration and is intended for an Embers of Empire based playset.
It merges and reapplies existing cultural-name data from several major toponym/name projects into the Embers of Empire landed_titles structure, so more provinces, baronies, duchies, kingdoms and empires can dynamically change their names depending on the holder’s culture.
This mod does not claim to be a new original research project.
Most name data comes from the credited source projects. The tool merges, restores, rekeys and reapplies that data to the target landed_titles structure. Some rare missing name-list coverage may be filled by reusing the closest related source values for gameplay functionality; these approximations are intended to make cultural-name behaviour more complete, not to present new historical claims.

- Dynamic cultural names: counties, baronies, duchies, kingdoms and empires can use culture-dependent names where the source data supports it.
- Merged source databases: combines cultural-name data from major toponym and More Cultural Names projects into one compatibility build.
- Title-equivalence recovery: restores useful names across equivalent, renamed or mod-specific title keys when the tool can match them safely.
- Rare list completion: selected small name lists can be filled from close related lists to improve gameplay coverage without overwriting real source values.
- Cleaner generated localisation: generated cultural-name keys are standardised toward the cn_title_culture pattern, sorted by title and related name-list clusters, and cleaned of stale unused entries.
- Hash-collision safeguards: generated localisation keys are checked and repair rules are available for Paradox localisation hash collisions.
- Embers of Empire structure: this version targets Embers of Empire / Roman-restoration playsets instead of being a universal patch for every map setup.
- Better source compatibility: equivalent titles from different mods are connected where possible, so useful names are not lost just because a source uses another title key.
- Less localisation clutter: generated keys are cleaner, repeated donor values are reused when appropriate, and obsolete generated keys are removed from the cultural-name localisation file.
- Wide cultural coverage: coverage depends on the credited source datasets, with additional tooling to preserve names that would otherwise be lost during compatibility merging.
- This version is made for Embers of Empire – A Roman Restoration.
- Embers of Empire is marked as compatible with RICE by its author, but conflicts can still happen with other mods changing the same title files.
- Place this mod below Embers of Empire, its compatches and other map/culture mods in your load order.
- This mod changes landed_titles and localisation files, so it is probably incompatible with other mods that change the same landed_titles files.
- You do not need to subscribe to the credited source name mods for this compilation to work, unless they are also required by your chosen base mod/playset.
This is a large compiled compatibility version, so some edge cases, wrong priorities, missing names or overly broad approximations may still exist.
Some large realm names may still not update correctly because of game/title-script limitations or source-mod behaviour. If you notice a title not using cultural names properly, please report it in the comments with the exact title name, culture and load order.
