Las Vegas Sphere Wonder
The days of man building great architectural wonders are not yet past. Instead of building cathedrals, however, we now labor to construct giant tacky spheres of blinding light that we can play advertisements on and hold Eagles concerts inside of.
The Sphere is a music and entertainment arena in Paradise, Nevada, United States, east of the Las Vegas Strip. Construction began in 2018 and the 18,600-seat venue opened in September 2023, featuring a 16K resolution wraparound interior LED screen, speakers with beamforming and wave field synthesis technologies, and 4D physical effects, as well as an exterior wrapped in 580,000 sq ft (54,000 sq meters) of LED displays. Construction cost $2.3 billion USD, making it Las Vegas’s most expensive entertainment venue.
