Sapporo Municipal Subway 9000 Series / 札幌市交通局9000形
The 9000 Series (9000形) is a rubber-tired metro train operated by Sapporo Municipal Subway.
Entering service in 2015, the 9000 Series is the second generation of rolling stock on the Toho Line. It was designed for compatibility with the planned installation of platform gates, which had already been fitted to all other Sapporo Subway lines. The exterior was designed with the theme of “a refreshing, simple, yet familiar appearance. A rounded front shape was chosen for its gentle feeling, while the white and blue colors evoke a clean feeling. The 9000 series is also supports driver only operation to reduce operational costs, and also features an ATO system that can be switched from normal mode to Eco mode, which minimizes power consumption during cruise. Like the previous 7000 series, the 9000 series was also manufactured as 4-car trains, with a total of 80 cars produced (20 sets). Since the full retirement of the 7000 series in 2016, it has been the only type on the Toho Line.
