Multiracial Culture Groups
Have you ever wondered why the Cyazizeta Lizardfolk create ugly green splotches throughout the culture map of Southeast Sarhal, despite being as culturally Tanizu as their human neighbors? Have you ever been frustrated as a Harimari empire in Haless being unable to accept the human cultures around you but randomly accepting other Harimari across the continent? Well, this submod solves those problems and many more. The Anbennar racial system is fully capable of having more than one race in a culture group, as can be seen with the half-orcish and half-elven cultures. The only reason this is restricted to those two races is concerns around legibility for new players. But if you aren’t a new player, this can get rather frustrating. Thus, this submod moves all the different cultures which really should be in different groups into those culture groups, even if it means going across racial lines.
NOTE: Due to the vast amount of changes made to cultures in this submod, it is in fact a separate branch of Anbennar rather than just a standard submod. This means that YOU SHOULD NOT LOAD THIS MOD ALONGSIDE ANBENNAR, LOAD THIS MOD **INSTEAD** OF ANBENNAR.
Furthermore, due to that vast variety of changes, this submod is unlikely to be compatible with most other Anbennar submods. It has my other submod, Endonym Anbennar, integrated into it, since otherwise I’d have to create a compatch, but beyond that, I think the only submods that are likely to work completely are monument submods, and even that I cannot guarantee.
Lastly, before I list all the changed cultures, I’d like to request that any bugs found while using this submod be reported directly to me(@agwic on discord, or just the comments here, though i’m more likely to respond to discord stuff), even if they seem unrelated. For instance, just before posting this, I found that the Charkuchin unique government reforms weren’t working, which didn’t seem related to the submod, but as it turns out, it was. Thankfully, that bug is now fixed, but that should give an idea of how bugs might not necessarily seem related to this submod. I use this submod very regularly, but I haven’t played every mission tree, so there are sure to be lots of bugs, so please report any you find so I can fix them. The exception to this is the Sunrise Convocation. I am certain that I broke that, but I don’t wanna touch that code, so don’t report anything about it unless it bricks the MT.
You can also find a version of this submod for the Gitlab version, which I update pretty frequently, here: https://gitlab.com/Agwic/anbennar-eu-4-fork-agwic/-/tree/multiracial-culture-groups
Onto the full list of changes:
* Dovesworn Gnolls and Imperial Gnomes moved to the Anbennarian culture group
* Ungulan, Kaztubari, Grombari, and Redtusk Orcs moved to the Escanni culture group(though honestly I’m on the fence about Grombar, I could have instead moved the Grombari Half-Orc culture to the Orcish culture group, or moved both to the Gerudian culture group)
* Bladesworn and Knightsworn Goblins moved to the Escanni culture group
* Delta Gnome and Nzeri Harpy moved to the Kheteratan culture group
* Iochander, Creekfoot Halfling, Dragonmask Kobold, and Ruinchander cultures moved to the Gnomish culture group
* Jarnklo Harpies and Whitescale Kobolds moved to the Gerudian culture group
* Vaikazelhi moved to the Elven culture group(could be convinced to instead move Dawn Elves to the Taychendi culture group, but it just didn’t feel right for them to be in different culture groups)
* Charkuchin Kobolds given their own culture group, separate from the Cannorian ones(plus Darkscales)
* Asbaiwix and Enigrax moved to the Gnollish culture group
* Suncrown Gnoll moved to the Bulwari culture group
* all Harimari cultures moved into local culture groups(except Ashwoven, which is Yan), which involved splitting the Roaming and Royal Harimari cultures into several smaller cultures.
* Wuhyun cultures, including non-human ones, moved to the Hobgoblin culture group
* Nuzenapu Harpies moved to the Hobgoblin culture group
* Sarnik moved to the Ynnic culture group
* Pipefoot Halfling moved to the Ynnsman culture group
* Towerfoot Halfling moved to the Trollsbayer culture group
* P’ezarangi Harpy and Goldscale Kobold moved to the Yan culture group
* Yak Hobgoblin and Nuryari Harpy moved to the Yan culture group
* Stonewing Harpy moved to the Akasi culture group
* Cyazizeta Lizardfolk moved to the Inyaswarosa culture group
* Hill Troll moved to the Khudi culture group
* Seacrest Ogre moved to the Yanacotle culture group(I could be persuaded to split off the 1 Seacrest province in Anakue lands into its own culture if people thought it was very important, but given how much intermixing there is between the two culture groups i think it’s fine)
* Skyfall Ogre and Sirimadsik Kobold moved to the Utubodi culture group
* Vyzemby Halflings given their own culture group separate from the Cannorian ones, which includes the Itayzemby Lizardfolk
* Soot Goblin, Tinker Gnome, and Steelscale Kobold moved to a new Triarchic culture group
* Reeflight, Ashfall, Soulcycle, Flameweaver, Stargrasper, and Mangalclimber Mechanim moved to their respective Insyaan culture groups
* Umsoroh Mechanim moved to the Inyaswarosa culture group(this is because I heard that, unlike other non-Insyaan cultures, Inyaswarosa and Baashidi count Mechanim as people, and decided to give their shared Mechanim culture to the Inyaswarosa. I could be convinced to switch them over to the Baashidi, or even split the culture, but I doubt it’ll matter much)
Also, I made Cursed Ones into orcs, in the orcish culture group, because they are effectively orcs(definitely moreso than they’re elves), and their culture also descends from Ducaniel.
