Description:
BACKGROUND

The R.S.V Akimbo was launched in 2018, tasked with the mission of cleaning up oil contaminants from the world’s oceans. The Akimbo is designed, owned and operated by OMUA (Oceanic Marine Underwater Agency), a (fictional) multinational marine and research agency. The design allows for a top speed of 30 knots when the split-hulls are closed and a wide-reaching oil cleanup system when the split-hulls are opened. In addition to two oil processing centrifuges, the Akimbo features an oil distillation system, capable of processing oil directly on the ship, and producing diesel or jet fuel. The produced diesel or jet fuel can be stored in one of the two massive hull storage compartments or fed directly to the diesel or jet fuel reservoir for full self-sufficient operation. Inside the superstructure is a world-class high-pressure laboratory, complete with an airlock and research mission. Built with luxury in mind, the Akimbo also features private luxury living quarters, a mess deck with lounge, an infirmary and an armory. As with all OMUA vessels, all systems are designed to be operated by a 1-man crew, in case of emergencies. A standard operations crew of 6 and up to 5 other staff.
