Auto Dock
Adds an "Auto Dock" module to your ship’s nav station. With a target locked and docking clearance already granted, one press of ENGAGE flies your ship in under real thruster power and docks it for you. It is a real burn that spends fuel and takes time, not a teleport. Auto Dock does NOT request clearance for you — get clearance the normal way first; it only handles the approach and the final dock once you are cleared.
Features
- Real approach, not a teleport — accelerates to a cruise speed, coasts the long inbound leg, steps its speed down near the station, and glides in to dock while still gently moving. It will never start a burn it cannot finish on the propellant aboard.
- Respects your throttle — by default the approach will not pull harder than your nav-station throttle setting allows, so the burn’s G-force stays within what the crew chose.
- Realistic thruster turning — turns to face the dock under thruster power like an autopilot, easing into and out of the turn (optional; the instant nose-snap is still available).
- Flies right up to the hull — comes in close before the final dock, so docking with large stations feels natural instead of snapping shut from far away.
- Found as rare salvage — turns up uncommonly in nav consoles and very rarely in other loot (lockers, derelict salvage, containers). Install it onto the nav-station pegboard like any other module.
- Status-lamp guidance — READY / NO TARGET / NO CLEARANCE / NO PORTS / APPROACH / DOCKING, plus abort codes such as NO FUEL, CLR LOST, and TIMEOUT.
Configuration (edit the mod’s file in BepInEx/config after first launch)
- Enabled — master on/off switch for the whole mod. Default on.
- ApproachMaxSpeed — cruise speed in m/s, built up and coasted on the long inbound leg; lower is gentler and cheaper on fuel but slower. Default 100.
- DockApproachSpeed — final docking speed in m/s, stepped down to and coasted in to the hull. Default 20.
- DecelStartDistance — distance in metres ahead of the hull where braking begins; auto-widened if the ship cannot brake in time. Default 1000.
- DecelCheckpoints — number of speed steps from cruise down to docking speed (higher = more, smaller, smoother steps). Default 8.
- UseShipThrottle — cap the approach’s acceleration to your nav-station throttle so the burn’s G-force respects the crew’s setting. Default on.
- UseThrusterRotation — turn to face the dock under real thruster power like an autopilot; turn off to restore the instant nose-snap. Default on.
- RotAccelMax — how hard the turning autopilot may push (higher = snappier turns). Default 0.5.
- RotSpeedMax — fastest spin rate it will build while slewing to face the dock. Default 0.6.
- DockTriggerMult — how close, in hull radii, before the final dock fires; scales with station size so it flies right up to any size hull. Default 1.1.
- MaxApproachSeconds — safety timeout in seconds for the approach burn; if docking range is not reached by then, the auto-dock aborts. Default 600.
- LootSpawnEnabled — let the module be found as world loot. Off means it only exists if spawned via debug/console. Default on.
- NavConsoleChance — chance (0 to 1) to drop the module each time a nav-console’s loot is rolled. This fires per roll, so your cumulative odds over a whole playthrough are far higher than the number suggests. Default 0.03.
- OtherLootChance — chance (0 to 1) per non-nav-console loot roll (lockers, salvage, containers). Very rare on purpose, also per roll. Default 0.002.
- VerboseLogging — extra logging to diagnose the module and docking sequence. Default off.
