Description:

yomi hustle mutant

The de-facto rushdown character Mutant.
Nasty and ugly and smelly.

Strengths
Weaknesses
Scary aura
110% knockback
Fast normals
Painful recovery if cooldowns not managed
Lots of freaky movement
YOMI character > death by thousand cuts
Overwhelming with meter and projectiles
Low range most of the time

This character has a simple rushdown kit that’s easy to pick up, but gives multiple layers for the player to experiment with. The most movement creeped character I’ve ever made. He was made in a lab.

also making characters is fun again yay

Special Mechanics:

Super Bar:

Mutant has a maximum of three bars of meter that is built up by hitting any moves that are not supers.

Super moves will replace some of your regular moves’ inputs if you have enough meter.

All super bars lost on death.

Supers:

Caustic Barrage (1 Meter):

Throw out a fanning arc of 3 caustic thorns that cover up a large area.
Useful for zoning and confirming stocks offstage.

Use Up Special on the ground to throw them upwards, and Down Special in the air to throw them downwards.

Howl (2 Meter):

Restore 2 Slop Dash charges. The screen will shake a lot when any Mutant uses this move. Taunt to activate.

Rebirth (3 Meter):

Pull all enemies into your grasp, and burst with violent energy, strongly blasting any caught away. Heals Mutant for 20%. Combo ender or neutral reset tool. Invincible until recovery.

maybe can also cheese with this move but don’t tell anyone that i said that

Can cancel attacks into this move.
Special + Attack to activate.

Pips:

You can earn up to 10 Pips that lets you spend them on Slop Cancels and Caustic Spike. You gain 1 on hit with any non multi-hit move, and 2 on any parry.

Getting hit removes a pip. Getting parried halves all your pips. All pips lost on death.

Slop Cancel:

(Press Parry on Hit)

Replacing Juke from the base game is the Slop Cancel, a dash cancel on hit, costing 2 Pips to use each time. Press Airdodge after landing any melee move to perform a Slop Cancel, sending Mutant in the direction of your movement, or where you’re facing if no input is held. There are no other platform fighter games with this exact mechanic no there isn’t

Opens up new combo routes or can be used for repositioning.

The dash cancel window is generous and has some wiggle room.

Caustic Spike:

(Nspecial in Air)

Costs 5 pips.

Leave a toxic spike in mid-air. After a certain period of time it will explode, sending all enemies hit away from Mutant’s location.

Can be detonated early by pressing Neutral Special. You don’t need to be in the air while exploding Caustic Spike. Caustic Spike can also be exploded while in the middle of an attack.

Slop Dash

(Hold Airdodge with Slop Dash Charge):
An airdodge extender that gives you omni-directional movement for a set period of time. You are given 2 charges of Slop Dash after activating Howl. Simply hold airdodge with at least 1 charge to Slop Dash.

Excellent for recovery, mixups, or stick potential.
Not lost on death.
