Vanilla ish Crops, Camping, and Conditioning
This mod adds a variety of structures mainly aimed at increasing what you can do in town and providing some basic stat-training structures for less tedious on-boarding for new recruits. The structures were created to fit as close to vanilla costs as I could figure and were designed by rearranging existing structure parts, so it should fit fairly seamlessly. Except for a couple of (unavoidable?) edits, it only creates new data so should not conflict with most mods. This was my first Kenshi mod and designed for personal use, but hey, maybe you’d like these too.

OKAY, but what ‘exactly’ does this do?
Starting with edits, since they are the only potential mod conflicts:
– Added a few new structures to ‘_Default Start’ research, or in other words what you know how to build at game start.
– Edited BUILDING_FUNCTIONALITY for ‘weapon smith 2 + 3’, reducing cloth consumption to 25% (1 cloth used for every 4 iron/steel)
– Added a new recipee! to ‘cooking general’ and added said food item to be allowed in ‘Food Store’ building

Whatever about that stuff, what does this mean for me in game?
CAMPING – these will not be considered as an outpost; known at start
-Stone Dig Site, a small inefficient stone mine costing 1 raw iron to place
-Survival Workspace, a little space to cobble together building materials and new! rough first aid kits
-Sleeping spot, a spot to sleep for 200% heal rate costing 1 Building Material – basically a small sack of sand
SMALL SCALE PRODUCTION – level 1 research; 1 Book
-Iron Beating station, cheaper and much smaller than a refinery but slower
-Construction Bench, same as above but for Building Materials
COMPACT GRAIN SILO – small interior silo, requires -10 power; 1 Book
PHYSICAL CONDITIONING – level 2 research; 6 Books
Strength Training Table – trains 2 people at a time, up to 60 strength
Dexterity Training Light – " , up to 30 dexterity
Toughness Training Fire – " , up to 25 toughness
Perception Training Wall – " , up to 20 perception
MOISTURE HARVESTING – level 2 research, requires Well 2; 4 Books
-Moisture Harvester, fairly pricey, -10 power, and produces 24 water a day
RATION PREPARATION – level 3 research; 3 Books + 1 Ration Pack
– lets you cook Ration Packs and ‘new!’ Trail Packs (a 100 nu cousin)
PLANTERS – level 3 research; 6 Books + more Books for each crop type
– planters are a low tech version of Hydroponics.* They must be put in a building, require -5 power, and are much less (but still are) affected by fertility than normal crop plots. For instance, you can grow Greenfruit in the Border Zone at roughly 60-70% yield, or Cactus in the Stenn Desert at a 70-80% yield.
– *Planters may be upgraded to Hydroponics when researched, but planter research is NOT required for Hydroponics research
– added Hydroponics for Cactus and Cotton crops

In practice, there are a few goals I aimed to accomplish with this.
– You can start with 1 raw iron and build up a camp, either for emergency first aid and rest or development into a small outpost.
– Stop burning copious amounts of fabric in the improved weapon smithies
– Training basic competency on new recruits in a much less tedious (i.e. micro-managing) manner, while respecting that the best learning must still come from experience (or in Kenshi, being beat up repeatedly)
– Ability to farm in town and infertile areas before tech 6, though it comes with much more investment and less efficiency then normal farming

Disclaimers
– Yes, a few things accomplished by this mod were inspired by and done already by others, however I did build this from base myself.
– I consider this mod to be relatively done, and I can’t say whether I’ll feel like adding any more to this mod. Modding is a heavy time-investment, even if rewarding.
– I did test the mod by importing to an existing save of mine and it seemed to work without issue, but you never know!
– The screenshots were captured with DUST (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3703458265) active, check it out if you have RE-Kenshi!
– You, if so motivated, may edit/incorporate this mod into your own and re-upload it to Steam Workshop so long as I am credited in the description. Thank you!
