Description:
SHORE BREAK

September 1985.

War has finally erupted in Europe between NATO and the Warsaw Pact.
As the conflict expands to a global scale, the Soviet Union moves to execute a long-prepared operational plan. Its objective is to transform the Sea of Okhotsk into a fully secured strategic sanctuary.
The opportunity comes in the Pacific. A Soviet submarine attack has crippled a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier, creating a temporary gap in the immediate response capability of the American carrier battle groups.
Soviet forces seize this opening and begin a series of amphibious landings along the coast of Hokkaido, starting with Wakkanai.
While the northern invasion continues, a new axis of attack is being prepared in eastern Hokkaido.
The objective is Abashiri.
At the strong insistence of the Soviet Navy, the capture of this important city on the Sea of Okhotsk has been assigned to the 55th Naval Infantry Division.
The selected landing site is Kitahama.
After evaluating the coastline, surrounding roads, and the approach route toward Abashiri, Soviet operational planners have identified this beach as the optimal point of assault.

The Soviet Naval Infantry is about to launch the first major amphibious assault of the war.
