Elites should test whether your deck is functional.
Bosses should test whether your deck is actually good. 👑
Expect bosses to be harder, more distinct, and more demanding.
Boss fights should no longer be solved by simply having enough HP. You now need to:
- ⚔️ Understand what the boss is trying to do
- 🛡️ Build a deck that can withstand the pressure
- ⏳ End the fight before the mechanic overwhelms you
Good luck climbing. 💀🔥
Boss Mechanics ++ shifts more difficulty away from elites and toward harder, more distinct boss encounters. The goal is to let you take bigger risks during the run, then test whether your deck can survive boss mechanics that matter.
📜 Notice: The in-game Mod Config contains the exact mechanical details for every change.
Every boss and elite change can be individually toggled between the modded and vanilla version. No game restart or run restart is required; toggle the option, then restart the encounter.
Restores Doormaker as an Act 3 boss using the v0.103.2 structure: a single door monster that opens into the full boss fight. Hunger, Scrutiny, Grasp, Devoured, Weighted card overlays, compact power icons, and boss icon assets are restored.
Complexity 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
An adaptive boss that studies how you play. Phase 1 is intentionally weak; later phases revive with adaptations against big attacks, small multi-hit attacks, strong blocking, Power-heavy decks, cycling/draw decks, and debuff-heavy decks. Optional Final Stand can reactivate prior adaptations at low HP.
Complexity 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
No longer scales Strength from Ponder. Disintegration is now a base part of the fight and increases every turn. Curse of Knowledge escalates through Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, and Acceptance, ending in Final Revelation transforming current combat cards into Status cards.
Complexity 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Sandpit is now an active tug-of-war. Your attacks push The Insatiable away, while the boss’s attacks drag you closer. Balance blocking, attacking, and emergency Frantic Escapes before the Sandpit overtakes you.
Complexity 3 ⭐⭐⭐
Beckon becomes hypnotic pressure instead of direct HP loss. Unplayed Beckons give Mesmerized. At 3 Mesmerized, you become Entranced and skip your next turn. Scream and Fade become stronger while you are Mesmerized.
Complexity 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Built around time manipulation. A Temporal Clock counts down through turns and cards played. Aeonglass alternates between Rewind, which restores HP to earlier turns, and Stasis, which makes upcoming drawn cards cost more.
Complexity 2 ⭐⭐
Explosion pressure builds over the fight. When the fuse begins, attacks reduce the final bomb damage. The attack intent only appears on the explosion turn, while a bomb counter shows how much damage remains.
Complexity 2 ⭐⭐
Ringing becomes a core fight mechanic. Extra stun windows appear at HP thresholds, but each stun triggers Beast Cry. Ringing lasts longer but allows 2 cards per turn. At low HP, Crush begins ramping Strength harder.
Complexity 2 ⭐⭐
Slippery becomes recurring attrition. Prepare gives less Strength but refreshes diminishing Slippery stacks over several cycles. Dismember deals less damage, adds fewer Wounds, and only adds Wounds on unblocked damage.
Complexity 2 ⭐⭐
Leans into being a support leader. Dark Ritual heals the lowest-health living follower instead of granting Strength. At low HP thresholds, the Priest can resummon dead followers, forcing burst-vs-board-control decisions.
Complexity 3 ⭐⭐⭐
Closer to The Collector from STS1, with two minions creating pressure. Focuses on Torch Heads, recurring debuffs, and Chains of Binding instead of raw Strength scaling. You’re Mine now applies shorter Frail, Weak, and Vulnerable.
Complexity 2 ⭐⭐
Claw management matters more. Killing one claw gives the other extra Plating on top of Rage Strength. Rocket’s recharge turn now makes it Vulnerable, creating a clearer punish window after the big attack.
Vital Spark is no longer free. The first Attack trigger each turn gives Energy, but also gives the Prism Overcharged Spark. The Prism consumes that spark on its next move to make the move stronger.
Personal Hive becomes a clearer per-turn Attack budget. It taxes only the first few Attacks played against Entomancer each player turn. Multi-hit Attacks count once.
A territorial flock fight. Starts with two Byrdpips already on board. Byrdonis has lower HP and reduced base damage, but gains Strength whenever a Byrdpip dies.
The sleep phase becomes a shell-cracking race. While asleep, she builds Dream Pressure. Attacking chips Shell and reduces Dream Pressure. Cracking Shell weakens Soul Siphon; waiting too long empowers the wake-up punish.
Creates recurring sleep windows. Later sleep windows go straight into empowered attacks, and Strength gain happens on the same turn the elite attacks. Slow scales harder, making long fights dangerous while still rewarding burst windows.
