Description:

Welcome to Manic’s Anglo-Saxon Units – Originally a small mod that solely sought to add a Huscarl-looking heavy infantry model for the High Middle Ages, this is now a complete unit pack that aims to give the Anglo-Saxons a variety of distinct mid (950) and late-game (1200) units. Just so that they aren’t running around in 1366, still wearing armour and using weaponry that would be better placed in 1066.

As an unintentional bonus, since they also use the ‘saxongfx’ graphical culture, all of these altered unit models will also be used by both the Frisians and the Continental Saxons, should the Karlings allow them to live long enough.

The mid-game units look (I hope) passably historically accurate, but the late-game units are mostly just German and English DLC units left largely unaltered since a post-1200 Anglo-Saxon army is essentially a fantasy concept anyway. Hey, it’s better than nothing!

The pre-950 Saxon DLC units (as well as the mid-game light cavalry, archers and cavalry archers) have been left almost entirely unchanged, with only some minor changes made to heavy and light infantry shields (see images above) to make them a tiny bit more historically accurate.

This custom unit pack should be fully compatible with any and all mods for Crusader Kings II, so long as they don’t also edit units tied to the ‘saxongfx’ culture (specifically the ‘saxon_avatars.gfx’ file).

Want even more modded units? Or perhaps you’re just the nosy type like me? Then I humbly suggest that you check out my other unit mods, located in the Manic’s Units workshop collection.

For those experiencing issues with the Workshop, or otherwise wish to bypass it for whatever reason, you can download a file containing all of the Manic’s Units mods and add-ons here[www.dropbox.com]. Simply place both the folder(s) and the .mod file(s) in your CK2 mod folder (DocumentsParadox InteractiveCrusader Kings IImod by default).

All of these mods are both Ironman & savegame compatible.
