Black Souls
This mod adds, for now, 3 items:
Heat-ernal life!
This single-use item can turn a nearby fireplace into a bonfire. When you die, even on another floor, after using all your other extra lives you’ll respawn here with full health (or 2 soul hearts if you have no red health), no consumables, and quite a zombie-ish look.
If you die now, it’s game over. But if you manage to get back to where you died, you’ll get your consumables and the ability to respawn back, though with a lower chance (the first time, it’ll be 100%), affected by luck. To prevent abuse, all items in the rooms you’ve explored in the floor will be removed when you respawn, but at least the bosses (not counting bosses in normal rooms) will stay dead, too.
Is this just a worse respawn item, you may ask? Well, kinda. Imagine you have a fantastic keeper run, and you die to the last boss. This item, even if more hard to use than simple 1-ups that respawn you out of the door, has a LOT of uses, assuming you don’t have -200 luck.
Praise the sun!
This active item has a particular way of charging. It’ll start with 3 empty charge bars: to fill them, you’ll need to use this near a fireplace (Yes, I like fireplaces. Dark souls too.), and it will consume it for some charge, depending on the fire’s color.
You might randomly (depending on your Luck) gain some charge when killing an enemy, and you will always gain it when killing the floor’s boss or a miniboss. Habit, 9 Volt and The Battery still work.
When you have at least 1 bar of charge, you can use the item to gain a soul heart.
Isn’t this another bad item, you may ask again? Yes, book of revelations doesn’t rely on luck or fires but, if you have already all of your soul hearts filled, this will give you a backup of 3 more (or 6, with The Battery), which in a fight like Hush are pretty useful.
Isaac can roll
A kinda passive item. With this thing, you’ll be able to roll by pressing LShift or the dropitem key (by default on a controller it’s RT, both keys are configurable, read below), making you invincible for the duration of the roll, but without being able to change direction or shoot mid-roll. Rolling depletes the stamina bar (to the right of your health), that will otherwise charge slowly.
Be careful not to completely deplete it, or you’ll have to wait even longer for it to recharge!
Also, the various battery items reduce the cost of a single roll.
To change the roll key, open the main.lua, look for the rollKey variable at the top and change its value to one of these[moddingofisaac.com].
If you don’t want to roll with the drop key, just turn useDropKey to false.
Filloax: coding, spiral sword sprite
Cochon Viking (also author of Isaac Souls):flask and ring sprites and the rolling animation!
This mod uses code from my templates, feel free to take a look/copy them, they’re heavily commented. Also, check if your mod is compatible below. If you think there might be problems with your mod and mine, please contact me.
Check this paste on pastebin[pastebin.com] for a list of compatible and incompatible mods, if a mod isn’t in there it should work, of course, the compatible list is just for mods that do similar things and because of this wouldn’t be sure to work, but they do.
Mods that replace 001.000_player.anm2[/b] won’t be completely compatible (the mod will activate a failsafe to use the jump animation when rolling if it doesnt find the rolling animation)
