Watchtowers and Forts
This mod allows the player to build forts and watchtowers in the campaign map. They will be permanent additions to the map once built.
Each of the forts and watchtowers has a unique look and name depending on the player’s culture. For example, Empire and Bretonnia get traditional towers fitting to their style while Skaven use burrows, and so on.
HOW IT WORKS
1. The player will now have a Build Structures button in his recruitment menu.
2. When the player clicks it, he will be presented with the option to either build a fort, a watchtower or do nothing. Choosing the build options will build the structure on the player’s position.
FORTS: Forts have a small radious of operation within which any army belonging to the player will receive a few small bonuses to their upkeep, melee defence, replenishment and leadership.
WATCHTOWERS: These will reveal and mantain revealed an area around them. This is done by spawning agents at their location every end turn and killing them right after in order to gain their visibility for that specific area but they will not even show up for the player, so if its all working as it should, the player should only see a shadow of an agent as it blinks into existance to then disappear again.
COMPATIBILITIES/REQUIREMENTS
Requires UI Modding Framework to function.
Should work with most overhauls and mods, except ones that use the exact same location in the recruitment window for the button, though I dont know of any.
Only for Single Player.
Only tested on Mortal Empires but I think it should work fine on Vortex, will test that when I have time.
FAQ
-Does the AI use this?
-No, the AI would have to be programmed to be able to use something like this effectively, beyond what a modder can do. Either way, the AI doesnt really need watchtowers since it can already see way more than the player can, so the only disadvantage AI really has is not being able to build the forts. The AI in Total War games that had forts/watchtowers never did use them effectively either but I dont think thats a reason not to have them in the games.
